In general Nigeria has over 525 native language which is spoken all over the Countries Geo political zones and 300 ethnic groups.
The Six Geo political zones and their states includes

  • North Central also know as Middle belt include states like Benue, kogi, kwara, Plateau, Niger Nasarawa state and Federal Capital Abuja The north central has approximately 150 Languages with hausa as the main language.

  • North East which includes Gombe, Taraba, Bauchi, Adamawa, Yobe and Borno state They have approximately 36 languages with hausa as the main language.

  • South South also known as Niger Delter includes Cross River, Akwaibom, Bayelsa, Delta and Edo state speak approximately over 100 languages also.

Among the listed languages in your country, how many are you familiar with?

Firstly am from Plateau State Nigeria which is the North Central commonly called the middle belt of Nigeria and in my state there are about 48 language spoken such as Tarok, Ngas, Berom, Mwuagavhul and many more.

I know how to speak the 3 mojor language which is Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba though i can't speak fluently but i understand and speak to some extent..

I will like to teach us Good Morning in this three language.

Good morning in Yoruba is e káà ro.
Good morning in igbo is ụtụtụ ọma.
Good morning in Hausa is Ina kwana.

How has this language improved/helped your life and business?

This language has helped me especially in the middle belt that hausa is most spoken language to be able to communicate with people.

-I can be able to use my language and talk to someone without having to let the third party understand what we are saying.

  • Speaking my language can help me identify my brother or sister in any environment i find myself.
Are you willing to teach your children these languages? Yes/No. State your reason.

Yes i am willing to teach my children this language and the reason includes.

  • So that they can be able to communicate with others were ever they find themselves.

  • So that they should have a sense of belonging.

  • it helps them to understand other people culture and the way things are done and be able to appreciate their culture as well.

  • Learning different languages can provide them with different and greater opportunity.

CONCLUSION
It is very important for every individual to at least learn two or more languages and also teach our children especially at the early stage.

it is very unfortunate for me that my parents never thought me their language but at least i learnt on my own and i wont like that for my own children.

THANK YOU.
I invite @usoro01, @bossj23 @adunni and @emmy01 to participate in this challenge.

Great insight to a very different country. Thank you for this article. I wonder how this legendary babylonian linguistic confusion is able to gather a functual nation. Is it right to assume, not all the people of Nigeria speak English like mother tongue and a lot of them are speaking the language of their tribe only?
