Someone once said to me, the best times not to act are when you are excited and when you are upset

What is your understanding of emotions?

The human soul is divided into 3 segments the emotion, the will and the mind. This therefore means that all of the emotions we express good, bad and ugly comes from our soul. The soul must be really powerful.

Emotions are expressions that shows we are still human. For instance been happy or excited is an expression of emotion. Been sad or crying is an expression of emotion. Anger is an expression of your emotions.

Emotions are also unique traits of an individual. For instance no two individuals can express exactly the same emotion towards a situation. If Mr A and Mr B gets a bad news, they will both react differently. Even if both of them decide to cry, the rate they cried will be different.

Some times when we express emotions, we are shocked because we didn't know that we were capable of how we reacted.

Oh yes I have had emotions that made me loose myself on several occasions.

Few years back, I travelled to my home town to spend the Christmas holiday with my family as it was always the culture for family members to be back home.

My kid brother back then always feeling he was older than me probably because he is taller or because am a lady. He insisted that I should vacate the room I was staying in the the village for him to stay or he stays with me. Meanwhile, he has a room allocated to him but was too lazy to clean it up.

I told him I can't leave the room neither will I allow him stay with me. He got offended and began to shout at me, i told him to stop shouting at me that I I am older than him with 4years, then he made a comment that was offencive. I stood up and gave him a slap.

He got so furious and wanted to fight back. It was a serious scene that day because my other brother stopped him and beat him up. I felt so bad after the whole incident. I started regretting why I slapped him. I apologized to him and he did to.

Explain 5 ways to deal with emotions

Our emotions can be controlled and below are some ways we can control it.

• Praying about our emotions: when you constantly pray for your emotions, it begins to align to God's will
• Put your emotions in check by been lead by the spirit: the holy spirit can be the controlling factor of your emotions, his leadings are perfect.
• Think before you act: When you always think of the actions and effects, you will definitely deal with your emotions.
• Relax , understand why the emotions are there: This seems similar to thinking before acting.
• Discipline: through discipline, you can deal with your emotions.

Do you think emotions could hinder someone from achieving their dreams?

Of course emotions can hinder someone from achieving their dreams. I have witnessed such a scenario.

There was this guy back then he lived in my neighborhood. He was always quick to always pick a fight whenever someone offends him or whenever he felt he was mistreated.

One day he had a disagreement with one of the neighbors concerning an issue that's was worth not fighting about. He beat up the neighbor and the neighbor got hospitalized.

From the hospital, the neighbor didn't come back to our neighborhood because he was afraid, he sent his relatives to pack his things and he moved out of that apartment.

Few weeks later this man who always fights at every little thing announced to us all that he was a changed man and that he has been offered a contract to build a hotel. He said he pursued that contract for 2years. We were happy for him.

He was called up to come to an office to sign and collect the funds and approval to go on with the contract. When he got there, he realized that the man who he was to get the approval from was the personal secretary to the owner of the intended hotel. Shocking right?

Your guess is correct! He lost the contract because the secretary reported to his boss that this man was a fighter, an irresponsible man.

So you see! He came home so disappointed and heart broken and told us his story.
