The Power of gratitude!!

Seating down to listen to good music I was lost in thought. Can you guess what I was thinking about?

Random topics crossed my mind but I settled for gratitude.

Gratitude is not just what we say with our mouth, it is supposed to be a character, a life style. Gratitude is a posture we take all through the days of our life.

Seating down and pondering I realized that when you are grateful for something you would all appreciate it by saying thank you to the one who made it possible. Foe instance when you gifted a beautiful hand bag as a gift, what do you say? Thank you right? But do you know that the way you even say the thank you will really show if you are grateful or not, so it's not just about saying thank you.

Once someone I care about so much was in so much financial challenge, I just needed to step in to help. I had already consulted this person asking "how can I help you". I didn't get the response I needed so I just went ahead to help with a bulk of the challenges.

When this person found out, all I got was did I ask you to help me? And thats all. I had to say aah you didn't even say thank you and the next thing this person said anyways thank you. I felt so bad. I was like, how did I go this length to sacrifice just to help you and this is all I got? After some days when we got talking I confronted the matter again.

You see from the story I shared with you, I had an issue with the way the person I help said thank you. I will share another story with you. Some days ago I was chatting with someone on Whatsapp and this person told me he just sent me a token into my account.

Guess what? I saw the alert, he sent 1500 naira. I sent a voice note immediately to him, screaming thank you with so much excitement in my tune. This person got really confused. He said was it because of 1500 that am thanking him like this? He was amazed. He told me for this reason he will always check up on me and support financially.

Gratitude has an attitude, you may not shout the way I did but guess what? People will surely know when you are not grateful!

I know this particular person that has gained access to influential people in the society because she is a grateful person, they kept recommending her until she got to the top.

While growing up I watched my Dad do something every end of the year, what was that? All the people who gave him contracts in the year he writes their name down, buys a bottle of wine, a thank you card, and some fruits. He visits the homes of all those people with wine, card and fruits. His other contractors didn't understand why he was mostly favoured and loved and given more jobs. This was his secret.

He never failed to show gratitude to the men and women who has blessed him with jobs in the year. Some one else may say, these things he buys, those his bosses doesn't need it, they are bigger than that, well thats your business. My Dad didn't care, he kept upgrading his gifts every year as the Lord blessed him. This was his way of showing gratitude.

Gratitude opens doors for you and speaks for you even in your absence. Gratitude keeps you humble. Gratitude shows that you appreciate what was done for you.

There is this particular person that I can really die for. I mean literally. The impact in my life is so profound and I don't hide it from this person. I say it all the time, thank you for all you did for me. Infact anytime this person ask me for a favour, even if I can't do it, I go out of my way to get it done. I can do anything for this person because am grateful for what was done for me.

I wish we will all learn the virtue of gratitude. It's so powerful! The world will become a better place when we become more grateful to people and learn to appreciate them.
