To Be Honest

Hello friends!!
It's a new year and what better way to begin it if not to be honest!
Do you agree that being honest is costly? Has it ever caused some e.g pain or regret? |
|---|
First I would like to respond that the word honest entails sincerity.
Honesty is a virtue that every individual should pursue and have. It can also be a character. The world is filled with dishonest individuals.
Now back to your question. Oh yes I agree that been honest is costly because not many people are honest. There are many people who prefer to cut corners than to be honest.
When you form a habit of been honest, you won't cut corners, you will be straight and transparent and it will cost you some benefits that others who are not honest will receive.
Honesty is costly because you would be on the side of the truth. For instance I remember I was given some money to get a job done one time. I went to the market to get the prices of the materials needed to carry out the job. I went with 3 friends. Some of my friends said I should add some money to my budget so that I can have enough to my self.
It sounds interesting right? If I add some money to it, I will make more profit but I refused I told them no! I told them am honest and won't be able to do it, they got upset with me, when I told the person I was working for the actual price he even wanted to pay me lower and my friends laughed at me.
Even though I told the truth, I was loosing from that business. So yes honesty is costly.
Can you be honest without hurting people's feelings? |

Yes I believe you can be honest without hurting people's feelings. Although sometimes been honest with your words can hurt others but I think it depends on the way you conveyed the speech.
One time, I noticed that a particular person was beginning to have body of odour. No one was willing to tell him, I just needed to help but I didn't know how to do it. I asked the holy Spirit to help me and I walked up to this person and told him that there is something I want to tell him.
He looked at me and smiled, I started by handing him a roll on and body spray I bought for him. He was so happy about the gift. Then I went further to talk to him about his hygiene. By the time I was done, he already knew my point and he so appreciated it. He thanked me for been honest with him and he wasn't hurt.
This is why I think you can be honest without hurting others.
Have you ever told a lie to protect someone? |
|---|
Haha this question just reminded me of something. I want to establish the fact that a lie is a lie no matter the reason why you told the lie.
I know that many people tell a lie to protect someone and I have been there before and I can tell you for free that it wasn't a good scene. I have always been on the side of truth. I don't like lies but recently I had to lie to protect someone and I wasn't happy about it. I wasn't proud that I did that and I have made a promise never to do that again.
I try not to be brought in such situations where I nyti lie to cover or protect any one.
Is it okay to keep a secret if it could hurt someone? |

For me I don't think it's ok to keep a secret. Especially if that person trust you with their life.
One time someone I love so much kept a secret from me and when I eventually found out, I was so upset for days. I was heart broken. I never expected that such person could do that to me.
This is exactly what happens when secret are kept no matter the reason. I think it is better to tell the person, he or she will love you more for been honest with them than to hide it from them and they found out.
I have seen situations where in such case a marriage ended because secret was kept. Even friendship has gone down the drain because of such matter.
