Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 120: What I Will Do Differently This Year
Last year, I had to achieve a greater goal a very simple good goals. I wanted to level up. I wanted a better job, better earnings, and to build strong digital skills for today's world. I had a plan. I was ready to start courses update my resume and really put myself out there.
Then, something happened. Something personal. I don't need to go into the details here but it was the kind of thing that demands all your attention and energy. It wasn't a choice it was a necessity. My focus had to shift completely from my career goals to dealing with something personal. The plans for the good job good earnings and and great digital skills got put on a shelf. They were not forgotten but had to wait
The limiting factor was time and emotional energy two resources that were suddenly needed elsewhere. It taught me a hard lesson you can have all the ambition in the world but sometimes life has other more pressing priorities. And that is okay. It doesn't mean you failed it means you adapted.
Do I know better now?
I know a different kind of better.
More than ever. The desire for a fulfilling job financial security and relevant skills hasn't gone away. If anything going through a tough time has made me value stability and growth even more. But my approach has changed. This year isn't going to like last year. 2026 is about gentle steady rebuilding. It's about giving myself permission to start where great.
Cautiously hopeful. I'm not coming in with a blast of unrealistic energy. I'm coming in with experience. I know now that a year can hold both setbacks and progress.
This year is about integration or a race. And that feels like a more honest, and maybe even more achievable, way to move forward.
