I'm starting by wishing all my Steemit friends good health. I will be participating in a great engagement challenge in the first week. Through this engagement challenge, I will be able to share with you about my specific personality decisions. So a big thank you to @ninapenda for organizing this engagement challenge. The theme of this week's engagement challenge is SLC-S29/W1-“Thinking and Ideas!| If You Were in Charge!”. So let's get started.

If you were given full authority over your community or country for a year, what would you solve first?

Health care

If I were given full authority over the country for a year, I would try to solve the improvement of healthcare. Bangladesh is a densely populated country and the number of doctors, nurses and service workers is very low compared to the huge population. In addition, there is a huge shortage of medical equipment, ICUs, beds and medicines in hospitals and clinics. In addition, there are currently a large number of patients in government hospitals who are not receiving adequate medical care. Moreover, the situation is worse in villages than in cities. There is no good medical system there.

Since the patients do not get good quality treatment in government hospitals, they enter the private medical sector, which is very expensive and it is not possible for all patients to bear this expensive cost. If there is good medical system in government hospitals, it will be beneficial for low-class and middle-class patients.

In Bangladesh, various patients currently go to our neighboring country, India, and Singapore for treatment of their diseases. This causes huge economic losses to our country. The pressure of non-communicable diseases is increasing day by day in the country, such as heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems, etc., and there is no good system for treating all these. In addition, infertile women in our country do not have good treatment and they migrate abroad for good quality treatment.

Why did you choose this subject over others?

First of all, those who get the authority of the country mostly solve other problems and are busy with development. From my experience, I have not seen any project to implement a better quality system for health care in our country so far. Currently, ordinary people, from high-ranking people to low-ranking people, are suffering from various diseases and have to spend a lot of money due to not getting good treatment from the government. In that case, many cannot even afford the treatment.

I have seen that many people in my region have taken the country's health care for serious diseases but it is not working. They go to the neighboring country, India, and from there, they get treatment and come home healthy. Especially for infertility treatment in our country, most of the women are now dependent on Indian treatment. If the medical system in our country is improved, then there will be no need to go to other countries for treatment and the citizens of my country will be able to receive similar treatment at a low cost. This will lead to economic and development of the country.

What difficult decisions do you have to make?

In this case, I must make a difficult decision. First of all, there is a disparity between cities and villages in the medical system, which needs to be eliminated. In addition, high-quality medical care and the number of nurses, service workers, and doctors need to be increased in government hospitals. This will prevent patients from spending more money in private hospitals. Digital healthcare needs to be expanded. Especially strengthening the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC). Increasing the research capacity of Bangladesh's medical universities. In short, more funding or investment should be increased in the field of healthcare.

I think that good governance and supervision are especially important in the field of healthcare in Bangladesh. Because many irregularities occur in various departments of government hospitals in this country and patients suffer. Strict monitoring and control of the quality of service in private hospitals or diagnostic centers, as well as government hospitals, is very important. In addition, emphasis should be given to maternal, nutritional and child health.

How would you explain this decision to people who disagree with you?

Every person has a different opinion. However, I will show those who disagree with me that there were many patients who could have lived a healthy life if they had received good quality medical care. Currently, various diseases are being affected and good medical care for all these diseases is not being provided by the government in this country. As a result, many families have to pay more for higher medical treatment privately or outside the country. Those from lower classes are refraining from these treatments, resulting in many lives being lost prematurely.

There is a saying that "Health is the root of happiness". We work hard for a little happiness and for the happiness of all family members. But if we cannot provide good quality medical treatment to our family, then there will be no happiness there. My decision will not only improve the country, but the progress of the people of the country and my own family, depends on this decision.

Hi @selina1, welcome to thinking and ideas week 1

My Observation:

Health is wealth as they say, and so the health care of the people should be of a great concern to you. Providing good medical equipments for them and making sure expired drugs are eliminated, this way, their health is kept safe.

It is a good decision and not a difficult one hence you know the right steps to follow and the right people working with you.
