SLC-S29/W1-“Thinking and Ideas!| If You Were in Charge!”
Assalamu Alaikum Everyone
This is @shabiha-jahan, from #Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I hope you are all well by the grace of Allah, I am also well, Alhamdulillah. Today I have come to participate in @ninapenda's SLC-S29/W1-“Thinking and Ideas!| If You Were in Charge!” contest. I hope you like my post.☺️
If you were given full authority for one year in your community or country, what is the first issue you would address? |
|---|
Maybe or never, ordinary people like us will not be able to become the government, but if there is a chance that I am given full authority in our country for a year, then the first issue I will solve is the issue of rape or torture of women. There are more or less many crimes in our Bangladesh, but the most heinous crime among them, which I think is rape or torture of women. As the days go by, I feel that this problem is increasing, especially when a girl is walking on the road, they are taught, they are humiliated by saying unnecessary language. Also, girls are being picked up and raped every day, and even after being raped, they are being killed so that the girl cannot say anything. It is not just girls who are being raped, but also young children, and this is increasing.🙂😞
If this continues, the girls of the country will no longer be able to go out on the streets, their families will be afraid to take them anywhere, girls will not feel safe. I want to punish all those carpal tunnels who do not know how to respect girls, who think that girls are puppets and can do whatever they want with them. I want to punish such inhumans as severely as possible so that girls do not feel helpless or unsafe.
Why did you choose this issue over others? |
|---|
It is natural that not all of us will have the same opinion, each person may have a different opinion, but I think this issue in our country is very serious and should be resolved as soon as possible. Also, girls are the offspring of mothers, I think it is our duty to respect them. Everyone has the right to be independent, to do as they please. But if such atrocities continue to happen to women, they will feel helpless, they will be scared in their own country and I think it is a shame for our country. The main responsibility of the government of a country is to provide safety to its people, to make them understand their rights. If women are being tortured or raped in their own country every day, I think it is a deterioration of the government's responsibility. Keeping all these things in mind, I have chosen this issue over others.
What is that one difficult decision you would have to make? |
|---|
The government sometimes has to take some difficult decisions to keep the country in order. To solve the issue I have chosen, I will also have to take some difficult decisions and I will take them. First of all, I will make the legal system of our country tough because more or less all the women who are being tortured or raped come to the law department hoping to get justice, but there are some legal officers who do not help those women get proper justice but rather take bribes from the accused and drop the issue without giving priority. Due to this, many people do not get proper justice, so I will try to first dismiss all those corrupt government officials from their jobs. Although it will be a bit difficult to select the corrupt ones from all, I will try to do this.
Now the second decision is that the person who rapes women will be killed in direct crossfire if it is proven that he is really guilty. I know this is a very difficult decision, but I have decided to do this because everyone will be careful due to the fear of such punishment and the ugly people who have thoughts of raping them in their minds will also be afraid. This will eventually reduce the rape rate and the girls will also be safe. Besides, those who torture women will be given appropriate punishment and they will also be fined.
How would you explain this decision to people who disagree with you? |
|---|
Normally, some of our opinions will not match others, it is normal, but in many cases, I think we should support each other's opinions for the sake of justice. Many people will be reluctant to accept the decision I have taken because many will think it is not right to kill anyone. But we also have to keep in mind what kind of animals like rapists torture and kill women. I will make it clear to everyone why I was forced to take such a harsh decision. Because of this decision or this punishment, there are many bad people who will be afraid to even look at them, let alone rape them. And we all have girls and women in our homes, we do not want such human-like animals to tear them apart, so I will try to explain all these things to everyone so that they support my decision.
Thank you so much dear @ninapenda ma'am for organizing such a wonderful topic.

I understand that you want to protect women and girls in your country at all costs. And you're right: no one should be afraid to go out on the streets at night!
But by calling for the death penalty for violent offenders, you are putting yourself on the same moral level as them. You want to take a life. There are no good or bad, reprehensible or acceptable reasons for this.
Do you know of any society in which the death penalty effectively prevents crime...?
The approach must be society-wide; the status of women, their visibility and self-image must be built up and established. Then there will still be individual cases that cannot actually be prevented. But people will no longer look away, judges will no longer blame the victim.
Hi @shabiha-jahan (70), welcome to thinking and ideas week 1
You've got a good plan for the women of your country. Stoping rape would have to come with strict measures and not violence. I just hope if given the opportunity, you would have capable hand on deck to handle the situation and fight for justice.
Thank you so much ma'am for rating my post.😊
