Hello Everyone!!

I hope you all are good and doing well. Today I'm here to be a part of this amazing contest "SC-S28/wk2: "Movie Highlights: "Based on True Events". For today's contest I'm going to review "Rwanda Hotel" a great movie base on true life story.

Let's move towards the contest task;

1-Watch a film inspired by real-life stories or people.

The movie Hotel Rwanda was released in 2004 that is based on a real story of a hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina, who saved more than fifteen hundred people during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. The movie presents how Hutu militias hunted the Tutsi minority and how Paul, who was Hutu, used his position at the Hôtel des Mille Collines to protect the refugees. It also points out that Western countries and the United Nations did less to stop the killing, infact they choosing to rescue their own citizens instead of helping the trapped Africans there. The film shows Rwanda genocide, human morality, and the failure of international community to intervene the situation.

2-Did the movie make you more curious about the real-life story?

After watching movie Hotel Rwanda makes me more curious and want to dig deeper into the real events that happened at Rwandan behind it. The film captures all the tension and the crisis that faced humanity , but there’s so much interesting more to the story: the politics, the personal testimonies of survivors, and the international response (or lack of it). Hotel Rwanda shows themes of genocide, real human morality, and the international failure of to intervene.

3-Which scene or moment felt the most powerful or emotional?

The most emotional moment that hit me the hardest is when Paul the hotel manager, played by Don Cheadle, stands alone in the hotel courtyard and the United Nations trucks are driving away, and the sounds of gunfire and screams fade into the background. Paul has a bottle of whiskey in his hands, trying to keep calm himself, while the everyone inside the hotel giving pressure to him. The this time, camera holds on his face as he looks up at the sky, and at the dame time you feel the crushing helplessness of the whole situation snd how the world watching from far away while people are being killed just a few meters away.

This scene is a quiet, almost still scene, but the emotion behind it is explosive. That scene of helplessness stayed with me long after the film ends.

4-What lessons did you learn from the true story portrayed?

The real story behind the film hits hard and gives great lesson. Here are a few lessons that stuck with me:

The true story taught me that ordinary people can become unexpected heroes when they overcome their fear and choose courage , as manager showed in film by using his limited resources and connections to protect over a thousand strangers, reminding us that moral responsibility doesn’t require a title—just a willingness to act.

Film also highlighted the tragic consequences of international indifference, and the failure of the United Nations and Western nations to intervene ; allowed the genocide to escalate but also sent a message that some lives are important than others.

Finally, the film demonstrates the power of compassion across ethnic divides, and shared humanity can survive in the darkest moments, and that speaking out, bearing witness, and standing with the essential steps to prevent future cruel action.

5-How did it make you feel about the people or time period it represented?

The film left me with a mix feelings of admiration and heartbreak by seeing how ordinary people , caught in a nightmare they never chose, still found moments of kindness, humor, and bravery in the midst of horror is both humbling and infuriating. It reminded me how weak peace can be and how the world can turn blind eye, which makes the survivors to recover from difficulty and the quiet heroism of people like Paul Rusebagina feel all the more powerful.

My Recommendations:

I strongly recommend this film to anyone who loves true stories and seeking a deeper understanding of courage, bravery, and heroism of common people to rescue many other people by utilising their abilities and power, when UN and other organisations don't help .

That's all from my side and I have tried to compiled all the task given in the contest. At the end I would like to invite @roohiasif99, @dasudi and @chant for the contest. Thanks for giving time to my post

Best regards
