This the capital of Akwa Ibom state, its located in the south south region of Nigeria. Uyo , being a major link to other states is always populated with a lot of vehicles, moving up down the Uyo transport network. Currently, only two major types of vehicles are allowed in the premises and this are cars and tricycles.

IS THERE ANY PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN UYO?

Yes, there are several public transport systems and network in uyo. The Akwa Ibom state ministry of tansports had come up with several ways, to help convey people in the public to their desired location.

If there is something that has really improved in this state, that will be the road networks. Here in this state, we have the best road networks in the south south region of the country. Examples are, the Uyo-Oron road, the fourlanes, Ekom iman – Etinan, Eket – Nsit Ibom, Airport road and whole lot of others not mentioned.

DRIVERS

This are licensed individuals between the age of 18-60 who transport people ,goods and services with the help of cars, buses, keke , trucks, tankers, tricycles etc. These are individuals with full knowledge of the Uyo road system and networks, knowing fully well that Uyo is a populated area and driving there requires much carefulness and swiftness.

EXPLAIN THREE IMPORTANT POINTS IN DRIVING

Defensive Driving:

Driving in an urban area like Uyo, requires one to be very defensive in defensive. There are high risks and chances of accidents in busy areas compared to less busy ones. The driver has to be very alert and always be ready to defend himself with his driving skills. This requires making sure your breaks are good, your tires are okay, your break lights are functional and every function in your vehicle is working and sound. Being defensive also includes respect road symbols, example, zebra crossing, traffic lights, school and others not mentioned.

Swiftness:

This is a very clear points that indicates how alert you should be while driving, routes you choose, your speed limits, how you overtake other vehicles etc.

Concentration:

Concentration is a key factor in driving, avoid loud musics, over speeding, sleeping on steering, call on steering , phone chatting on steering, drinking before or while driving, taking alcohol . The listed factors are things that could easily disrupt your attention while dressing, please do well too avoid them, to maintain safety.

Driving in Uyo is one of the coolest things for those who reside there or work as public transporters. Here in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria as a whole, we make use of the right hand drive. We have very busy traffic on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. One of the busiest route here is the Ikot Ekpene road, Uyo. We have the road safety in marked locations to help curb careless and incessant drivers. With all this, it is very safe and okay to drive in Akwa Ibom, Uyo.
