RE: SLC-S29/W4-“Thinking and Ideas!| Rethinking the Normal!
You've raised salient points.
But while I support that the grading system isn't totally effective, I also support that examinations should never be scrapped out, even a bit.
School does something to you:
- It stretches you.
- Makes you resilient
- And prepares you for the real world.
I tell people, if you were not hardworking as a student, you'd struggle when you finally have to work for your daily bread.
School helped me learn how to think strategically to survive. It taught me how to research deeply.
Now, I see myself carrying out market analysis and competitor's audit for my business effortlessly (It's still stressful regardless) but it's better than if I lack the knowledge on how to go about sourcing for information. You get.
I support that educators should focus on building skills and talents. But learners need to be tested seriously. Some of us only get to take things seriously when losing comes at a cost.
That's because humans are competitive in nature and competitions help us test our abilities.
Being lenient would make many kids lazy, thus, stifling their growth.
