Light at the end of a Dark Tunnel

in Steem4Nigerialast month

It is with pleasure that I participate in this contest by @bossj23 with the title "Light at the end of a Dark Tunnel". This is a world known metaphor which signifies hope and is used to motivate others or oneself to keep pushing through a hard time or difficult situation because there'll be a breakthrough some day.

Some synonymous phrases to this metaphor includes:

  • You can't be unlucky 365 days
  • Where there is a will, there is a way
  • One day e go better
  • When there's life there is hope
What do you understand by the statement, There's light at the end of a dark tunnel?

To my understanding I see the statement as a motivation. But in my opinion I am not one to go with motivations. This is because most motivations are just unnecessary.
Like this statement there are many people who did not see the light at the end of the tunnel, either the tunnel collapsed, they ran out of oxygen or they just could not continue.
Sometimes this tunnel could be very long and uncertain where it ends.

I prefer if the statement was rephrased as There will be light at the end of the tunnel if you keep pushing, re strategizing and doing everything necessary to see the end of the tunnel.

Imagine being broke and lacking food and a roof over your head then you sit down and be saying there is light at the end of the tunnel. My brother hunger will kill you inside that tunnel 😂😂😂.
But if you stand up and get to work either by looking for what to do to get money or asking for help from people, government and organisations; then you could see some light at the end of that tunnel.

In what situations have you experienced or seen the fulfilment of this statement? You can share experiences of others or yourself.

Let me tell you a story.
I have a friend who name is Nsikak. Nsikak was my classmate in secondary. Nsikak came from a well to do home, he was a fresh boy and everyone wanted to be close to him. His parents were very wealthy as his father was a permanent secretary in the Akwa Ibom State civil service while the mom dealt in all kinds of luxury wears which saw her travel outside the country regularly.

Nsikak had everything and all people like me did was just gawk God when whenever I see the life he had been opportune to have. Fast forward to after we finished writing WAEC exams which is the last exams for secondary school, something happened.
Armed robbers entered their home and looted everything their parent had and to make matters worse they killed his parents.

When news reached us in school everyone was in morning and Nsikak could not believe his eyes, I heard him shout and sob "I'm finished, I'm finished".

We eventually parted ways a week later and back then only the wealthy students had phone meaning I could not keep in contact with him since I did not have a phone. This was 2014.
In 2015 I was heading to Uyo and I saw Nsikak inside the same vehicle. I was delighted to meet him and I asked him how he was faring.
His countenance changed as he described how life has taken a sharp turn against him. How his uncle's had taken and shared his father's property then abandoned him and his siblings to their fate.
I asked if he had entered University and he said no that there was no money.
I asked what he was going to do and he said he has taken a choice to carry his father's last salary or pension and delve into forex and crypto.
I wished him well and told him he shouldn't worry that this will pass away and he will come out stronger. He thank me and we went out ways.

Fast forward to 2023 I was scrolling through Facebook when I saw his account so I decided to visit it. I added him up and he accepted, we got talking and I found out that he was in France schooling. I was amazed so I asked him how it came to be.

He told me that he took a leap of faith as he started trading forex. Things weren't going so well as he would lose and win, he couldn't have a break through but he kept pushing.
His breakthrough came in 2023 with the surge of crypto and many project which he got into. He started farming, participating in airdrops and scalping. At first it was easy as he invested in some shitty coins but with each experience he learned and improved. Then his breakthrough came when he made 10k USDT from a single transaction. That was the light at the end of his tunnel
Since then he has been on a roller coaster ride. He has built a house for his siblings, he is studying abroad with his siblings and is now a millionaire.

I could not help but applaud him for fighting even when everything was turned against him. He said he did not allow his family situation to weaken him but he keep fighting to survive.
Now he has so much that he would never need his father's property as he has more than that now.

The end

What problems are you currently facing that seems dark like that of a tunnel?

For me my dark tunnels or should I say tunnels is much. I would say that I'm going through a lot or a lot is going through me.
I left home last year to find my own feet but as of today my feets are still missing (pun).
Surviving in a land that is not yours is very hard my friends. No one knows you and no one to ask for help.
I also have school and everything other thing to do for myself. I am literally my own man, I can not ask anyone for help not even family.
Most times I just sit and think feeling depressed but then I get myself back up and push for my win. Because I am going to win this fight and make it to the end of the tunnel where I can see the light.

Do you actually believe there could be light at the end of a dark tunnel in your life? State reasons

Oh I believe, what is man without hope? Hope keeps us alive. Hope that one day our dreams no matter how impossible, will come to pass. I believe not because people encourage me with words but because I know I am putting in the work to achieve my dreams.

Well indeed if you don't give up, you eventually see the lights at the end of the tunnel. Staying positive is never a disadvantage to anyone.
