Another step
Through the slats and sidewalk cracks,
beneath the bush and pebbled mound
creeps the ever-twining—
—and the never-make-no-sound.
Serpentine asymmetry,
filtered through filmed eyes
by chaos, truth-distractions,
and words' clever disguise.
Halt, and do not fail to reckon
consequence of flesh—
—against flesh set, our brethren
who one another thresh.
O'er the paths and alley-ways,
past the mounded cost
where war was waged, and pestilence
still feeds on spirit lost.
Member of the bodies-battered
humankind-enveloped dream:
walk another step, another
way, another life to teem.

The images and words suggest to me that despite the limits, life continues its advance towards freedom. The freedom of the natural being snakes through everything created, even if they put up fences and brakes, nothing and nobody stops it and through the slightest opening it slips in.
Humble is the word. To ride on a path so low that the spring sprouts offer a lofty salute. The poem and the pictures call us to stop and honor life itself.
