Showing a little of my work

I want to show you an automotive repair job I did with a colleague at my workplace about 6 months ago, in this case we had to repair a large part of the car body that received a strong frontal impact

These types of accidents generally occur due to carelessness of the driver or recklessness. But I am not here to judge anyone, I am here to show you that luckily there is a solution for this type of situation

Simply speaking, I can say that automobiles are machines that are assembled by components and mechanical parts and by a bodywork that goes according to its model

So the work that my partner and I do is focused on the car body. which is composed of 13 pieces of which 10 of them can be disassembled, These parts once unified form the body of the car

Since we are going to repair the front of the car, we can disassemble the broken parts and replace them with new ones

Of course it is not always possible to buy new parts, it all depends on the budget that the client has

In this case, the client also requested the repair of 5 additional pieces. The reason is because he wanted his impeccable car

The details are quickly corrected and we apply a product called primer, which once dry is sanded and serves as a base for painting

We begin to sand all the bottoms and the 9 pieces to paint

New car parts are disassembled so paint can reach every corner

Once everything has been sanded, the entire car is washed so as not to leave traces of dust or grease on the car body

We start with the masking process of the car. The objective here is to cover with paper all the pieces that are not going to be painted

It is a process that takes around 2 hours for a single person

Now it's time to apply the paint to the body. It is important not to waste the paint for that reason, first cover what is white, and then apply it to the whole piece to equal the tone

Here we have the first layer of paint applied, we need to cover and for that we have to give it several coats

After applying several coats of paint to all parts of the car, they are now completely covered

Now is the time to make the paint shine, for this you must apply a product called varnish

Two layers of product are applied and we leave it until the next day to dry

When the varnish is dry, we can assemble all the pieces with all their components, this should be done with great care not to scratch anything

The goal is to leave it in one piece to be able to polish it completely

The polishing process takes around 5 hours. And once finished this is what the car looks like

There is no denying that it looks amazing, there is no doubt that we meet customer expectations

In this point. On several occasions I look at finished projects and wonder if what we do is art. I don't know yet, but I'm sure it's a good job
