I would like to show you a little about my work, which consists of painting cars

A few months ago I participated in the repair of a car that was aesthetically mistreated. The objective of that project was a total painting so that said car could look flawless again

Hace unos meses participé en la reparación de un automóvil que fue maltratado estéticamente. El objetivo de ese proyecto era una pintura total para que dicho automóvil pudiera verse impecable nuevamente

We start the project with a short period of time, having only 6 days to complete it. In short, it was a challenge where the key to achieving our goal was based on good planning

Comenzamos el proyecto con un corto período de tiempo, teniendo solo 6 días para completarlo. En resumen, fue un desafío donde la clave para lograr nuestro objetivo se basó en una buena planificación

We received the car and immediately started working on it, first we took care of taking apart some parts and then starting to correct all the blows and details

Recibimos el auto e inmediatamente comenzamos a trabajar en él, primero nos encargamos de desarmar algunas partes y luego comenzar a corregir todos los golpes y detalles

Here we can see that all the details that the car had were corrected, it was something to which we had to dedicate a day and a half of effort without distractions

Aquí podemos ver que todos los detalles que tenía el auto fueron corregidos, fue algo a lo que tuvimos que dedicar un día y medio de esfuerzo sin distracciones

Usually when it comes to a project like this, which is a short-term total repair, I have no time to waste, it is a priority to focus on moving forward as much as possible

Por lo general, cuando se trata de un proyecto como este, que es una reparación total a corto plazo, no tengo tiempo que perder, es una prioridad centrarse en avanzar tanto como sea posible

When I take a short break, I take the opportunity to take some photos, I took a photo and was surprised to see that it was full of dust, I had not noticed, although it is normal for this type of project

Cuando tomo un breve descanso, aprovecho la oportunidad para tomar algunas fotos, tomé una foto y me sorprendió ver que estaba lleno de polvo, no lo había notado, aunque es normal para este tipo de proyecto

That is not an impediment to me, I just cleaned myself up and was ready to continue

Eso no es un impedimento para mi, solo me limpie y estaba listo para continuar

Then it was time to apply a product called primer, this product is key to the process because it is the one that serves as the basis for applying new paint

Luego llegó el momento de aplicar un producto llamado imprimación, este producto es clave para el proceso porque es el que sirve como base para aplicar nueva pintura

I covered with paper the parts that I did not want to stain with paint, I mean the tires, the glass of the doors, the engine, among others

Cubrí con papel las partes que no quería manchar con pintura, me refiero a las llantas, el vidrio de las puertas, el motor, entre otros

I started applying the background from back to front to cover all the corrected details

Empecé a aplicar el fondo desde atrás hacia adelante para cubir todos los detalles corregidos

In this way, you progress slowly throughout the car

De esta manera, progresas lentamente por todo el automóvil

In about 10 minutes I had already applied a primer coat to the entire right side of the car

En unos 10 minutos ya había aplicado una capa de imprimación en todo el lado derecho del automóvil

On the left side I did the same

En el lado izquierdo hice lo mismo

Now it is time to finish completely covering the car body applying the same process

Ahora es el momento de terminar de cubrir completamente la carrocería aplicando el mismo proceso.

The next day, we are ready to sand the bottom that was already dry, the idea is to leave it completely smooth to apply the paint on top

Al día siguiente, estamos listos para lijar el fondo que ya estaba seco, la idea es dejarlo completamente liso para aplicar la pintura en la parte superior

After finishing, it was time to wash the entire car with soap to remove all traces of dust or grease. The idea is that it is completely clean before entering the paint booth

Después de terminar, era hora de lavar todo el automóvil con jabón para eliminar todo rastro de polvo o grasa. La idea es que esté completamente limpio antes de ingresar a la cabina de pintura

It was very helpful to have completely disassembled the interior of the car. Because in this way we could wash the entire interior to make sure that no dust accumulates when applying the paint

Fue muy útil haber desmontado por completo el interior del automóvil. Porque de esta manera podríamos lavar todo el interior para asegurarnos de que no se acumule polvo al aplicar la pintura

The reason we disassembled the interior of the car is because after the painting they were going to do upholstery work

La razón por la que desarmamos el interior del automóvil es porque después de la pintura iban a hacer trabajos de tapicería

Now it's time to get organized to put all the pieces in the cabin and mask with paper what is not going to be painted

Ahora es el momento de organizarse para poner todas las piezas en la cabina y enmascarar con papel lo que no se va a pintar

In other words, we had to cover the engine, the door glass, the dash of the car, the tires, among other things. So they don't get stained with paint

En otras palabras, tuvimos que cubrir el motor, el vidrio de la puerta, el tablero del automóvil, los neumáticos, entre otras cosas. Para que no se manchen con pintura

The rest of the car will be painted in its entirety, both inside and out

El resto del automóvil se pintará en su totalidad, tanto por dentro como por fuera

It is a total change of color. For this reason, it was necessary to paint up to the space where the spare tire goes

Es un cambio total de color. Por esta razón, fue necesario pintar hasta el espacio donde va la llanta de refacción

For this reason, we had to hang the hood and trunk of the car, because they have to be painted on both sides because everything has to be one color as if it were the original factory color

Por esta razón, tuvimos que colgar el capó y la cajuela del automóvil, porque deben pintarse en ambos lados porque todo debe ser de un color como si fuera el color original de fábrica

In this way we organize ourselves to be able to paint everything at the same time

De esta forma nos organizamos para poder pintar todo al mismo tiempo

The painting process took approximately two hours. Being a very important project, we had to focus on what will be a good application

El proceso de pintura tomó aproximadamente dos horas. Al ser un proyecto muy importante, tuvimos que enfocarnos en lo que será una buena aplicación

We were very busy and had no opportunity to take photos to register the paint application

Estábamos muy ocupados y no tuvimos oportunidad de tomar fotos para registrar la aplicación de pintura

The next day, after putting the car parts together, it was already in one piece and looked great

Al día siguiente, después de armar las piezas del automóvil, ya estaba en una sola pieza y se veía genial

Now it was time to sand the car with the help of very fine sandpaper to smooth the surface and give it a smoother finish

Ahora era el momento de lijar el automóvil con la ayuda de papel de lija muy fino para alisar la superficie y darle un acabado más liso

After about two hours. The car is completely sanded and clean to start the polishing process

Después de unas dos horas. El auto está completamente lijado y limpio para comenzar el proceso de pulido

Polishing takes about 3 hours for one person, after that you need to wash the car and dry it with a towel that does not scratch the paint

El pulido dura aproximadamente 3 horas para una persona, después de eso debe lavar el automóvil y secarlo con una toalla que no raye la pintura

We apply 3 types of products to it, and finally it achieves an incredible shine and a very smooth finish

Le aplicamos 3 tipos de productos y finalmente logra un brillo increíble y un acabado muy suave

With this we finish the project and meet the objective

Con esto terminamos el proyecto y cumplimos el objetivo
