Hola a toda la comunidad, los dientes tienden a mancharse de gris por varias causas, el paciente se preocupa primero por la estética, y luego por que puede ser el inicio de algo grave.

Dentro del diente tenemos un paquete vasculo-nervioso, que consta de una vena, una arteria y un nervio que nutren al diente, por distintas causa ocurre muerte pulpar, ese paquete muere y se degrada, la hemoglobina presente contiene hierro, éste se oxida y pigmenta la dentina y el esmalte deltal dando esa coloración gris al diente.

Inside the tooth we have a vascular-nervous package, which consists of a vein, an artery and a nerve that nourish the tooth, for different causes pulp death occurs, that package dies and degrades, the hemoglobin present contains iron, this oxidizes and pigments the dentin and the deltal enamel giving that gray color to the tooth.

Tenemos distintas causas, la muerte pulpar una de ellas ocurre por traumatismo, un golpe muy fuerte una caída o un accidentes, donde los dientes hayan recibido un impacto muy fuerte, puede haber fractura, es una de las razones más comunes del cambio de coloración.

También ocurre cuando hay procesos cariosos no tratados se vuelven crónicos, el tejido se pigmenta y si llegan hasta la pulpa la infectan y ocurre la degradación de la hemoglobina y pigmentación es mas intensa.

Otra razón es cuando tenemos restauraciones con amalgama, por ser metal, tiende a pigmentar, los bordes y las paredes de color gris.

¿Cómo logramos eliminar ese color del diente?

How do we get that color out of the tooth?

En el primer caso cuando existió un traumatismo, primero realizamos el tratamiento endodóntico y eliminar todo el tejido necrótico, y sellarlo, luego haremos varias sesiones de blanqueamiento para dientes no vitales hasta armonizar el color.

In the first case when there was a trauma, we first perform the endodontic treatment and remove all the necrotic tissue, and seal it, then we will do several whitening sessions for non-vital teeth until the color is harmonized.

En el segundo caso, se elimina toda la caries, se limpian bien las paredes de la cavidad hasta eliminar el tejido gris, si llegamos a la pulpa realizamos la endodoncia.

Y el tercer caso, eliminamos la restauración de amalgana y extendemos un poco la cavidad para eliminar el tejido pigmentado y obturamos con resina.
