Coinbase Custody was supporting Tether, and then they weren't...

People finally got their requests for USDT on Coinbase Custody answered, and then they weren't...

Several weeks back Coinbase Custody announced that they were adding support for the most popular stable coin in the world, USDT.

The announcement can be seen here:

Seems pretty definitive...

And then the Chief Technology Officer at Bitfinex and Tether also confirmed the integration...

This was big news and the number of unique addresses in Tether nearly doubled to 203,776 last week.

But then something strange happened...

The tweet was deleted as were all subsequent tweets and Tether is not listed anywhere on Coinbase or Coinbase Custody.

Also interesting was that the number of active addresses on Tether was back down sharply to 122,809...

Which gave back just about all those new active address we saw just a week earlier accompanying the Coinbase Custody announcement.

Weird...

I wonder what happened that caused Coinbase to go back on their decision to integrate Tether.

Either way, Tether just keeps growing as the market cap gets ever closer to $10 billion and recently overtook XRP as the 3rd most valuable coin in crypto.

Stay informed my friends.
