DRAWING THE IMAGOTYPE OF GEMS.

Taking advantage of this time of quarantine, because I only go out to buy what is necessary, and with my mask, gloves and anti-bacterial gel at hand; because to date more than 430 cases are reported in my country and 10 deaths by covid-19. So once again I grabbed my laptop, and I started shooting illustrator once more, to start drawing not a cartoon, but this time the GEMS community imagotype, which consists of a diamond and at the base the community's typography. I wanted to make this artwork today as a tribute and thank you because this community has opened its arms to support quality Spanish content. On the other hand this imagotype that the community uses for me has a good structure and composition as well as cleanliness in the design and projects a continuity in time in its typography. Simply GREAT, so from this corner I congratulate the designer of this imagotype.

STEP BY STEP
DRAWING THE DIAMOND GEM
Well, there is a well-known phrase, and I quote: "All roads lead to Rome", because I am going to start with the diamond and finally the typeface. First draw a pentagon using the hexagon tool, once the pentagon is drawn modify its nodes to obtain the shape of a 2D diamond.
Draw two time lines as references for the center. I drew a triangle and placed it at the base of the horizontal line; then I made a copy and resized it across the width; then I mirrored the first and second triangle and then pulled the bottom node to join it to the bottom dodo of the gem.
Now draw another triangle and place it on top and bring it up to meet the horizontal line. And then remove the horizontal and vertical line, because I don't need it anymore.
At this point I select everything and with the segment tool to have each of the parts editable and separately.
COLOUR APPLICATION
Using the colors of the imagotype, go on to apply the color of each of the parts that make up the gem.
FINAL PRESENTATION
I drew the typography, using the font "DODGE", then I expanded it and modified the nodes of each letter obtaining more or less the original appearance, and although I liked very much how it looked, I can say challenge fulfilled but better I left the original design of its creator.
