A long courtship would definitely help in finding out whether two people are compatible. But people change. Sometimes for the worse.

Yep - this is why I look at the "grow together, or grow apart" circumstances. often people just move away from each other - and it is seen as worse. Sometimes they become alcoholics too though :D
