PREVAILING IN PRAYER 1
16 HE SENT FROM ABOVE, HE TOOK ME; HE DREW ME OUT OF MANY WATERS.
17 HE DELIVERED ME FROM MY STRONG ENEMY, FROM THOSE WHO HATED ME, For they were too strong for me.
18 THEY CONFRONTED ME IN THE DAY OF MY CALAMITY, BUT THE LORD WAS MY SUPPORT.
19 He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me."
Psalm 18:16-19 (NKJV)
• The devil who is the archenemy of the people of God (Revelation 12:10,17), the believers, does attack at the time of discouragement—when a believer least expected (1 Peter 5:8).
- When your spirit is at a low ebb, a state of decline and discouragement, be watchful and do not let down your guard. Human being are not your enemies; but the flesh, the world, and the devil with his cohorts.
- The devil operates by using humans as instruments against the believers he wanted to oppress. These humans serve the devil's interest, they have sold their hearts to him, to be used against the believers, and God's Kingdom on the earth:
25 IN HUMILITY CORRECTING THOSE WHO ARE IN OPPOSITION, IF GOD PERHAPS WILL GRANT THEM REPENTANCE, SO THAT THEY MAY KNOW THE TRUTH, 26 AND THAT THEY MAY COME TO THEIR SENSES AND ESCAPE THE SNARE OF THE DEVIL, HAVING BEEN TAKEN CAPTIVE BY HIM TO DO HIS WILL" (2 Timothy 2:25,26 NKJV). - Such people have been taken captives by the devil, to do his will.
• A believer who is committed to the work given to him or her, being diligent and consistent in the doing of it, should always endeavour to be in the Spirit (Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:16).
- Fasting and praying are part of the weapons needed by a believer to live a victorious Christian life. You have to be consistent in observing them (Luke 2:37; Acts 14:23; 2 Corinthians 6:5; 11:27).
- For your fasting and praying to be productive and result oriented, you have to be versed in the Word of God (Joshua 1:8). The Word of God enables you to pray, and to pray aright (James 4:3).
- It is the prayer prayed in line with the Word of God that would be answered (John 15:7). The understanding of the Word of God enhances your prayer, It enriches it and gives it credibility before God.
- Some pray and fast a lot but do not pay attention to the Word of God. Such believers usually pray amiss (James 4:3). They dissipate a lot of energy on prayers that would not be answered by God.
- Most of the prayers prayed by such are usually considered or granted on the platform of God's mercy. Because such prayers are not usually in line with the Word of God. God is not moved by emotions, but principles that are found in His Word.
- Living by the principles of the Word of God, the Bible, is the foundation of whatever prayer that would be answered or honoured by God (John 15:7).
- The point being shared here is peculiar to many who claimed to be operating in the prophetic ministry. Just because they believe the prophetic gift is operational in their lives, they tend to believe they are right and they are still standing, even when they are dry inwardly—In their relationship and communion with God.
- Manifestations of the gifts are not equal to walking with God. Someone might be manifesting the gifts of the Holy Spirit, yet his or her walking with God might not be sound—solid or firm.
- Thus, a strong place should be given to the Word of God in your life, that is, walk with Him (Psalm 18:22).
• What a number of believers call spiritual warfare prayer is all about bodily exercise or gymnastic that profits a little. It has no spiritual enrichment whatsoever (1 Timothy 4:8).
- The knowledge of the Word of God and the practicing of it give to you or teache you things pertaining to God. The treasure trove of the Word of God you have in you would be used by the Holy Spirit to lead and direct you in your prayers (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 2:13).
- The Holy Spirit shed or throw out light and expatiate the treasure of the Word of God on the inside of you: "BUT THE HELPER [Comforter], THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHOM THE FATHER WILL SEND IN MY NAME, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, AND BRING TO YOUR REMEMBRANCE ALL THINGS THAT I SAID TO YOU" (John 14:26 NKJV).
- You have got to know and understand the Scriptures through the Holy Spirit and that enhances your prayer life. The understanding of the Scripture also makes you pray aright, a result oriented prayer.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- If you are ailing in any part of your body, I declare your healing now in Jesus' mighty name.
- The hold is completely broken and the affiction will not rise the second time in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Whatever is not planted in your life,
Peace!
