Saving or Spending Money - What is the best lifestyle?
Money doesn't make happy? You will never hear a wealthy person say this.
It's better to be poor and healthy as to be rich and ill is a statement based on nothing. Who lives in poverty isn't healthy, can't afford good food, a good doctor, a good education, a good place to live. Poverty and health do not go hand in hand.

Grandma Duck worked her entire life on a farm. She is at least 100 years old by now and still poor. This kind lady has family, even a wealthy brother but no one helps her out. The help at the farm is a lazy, fat goose. He spends his days sleeping or eating. If grandma is out of money she sells what is dear to her, one of the animals on the farm.
Does it pay to work hard and be kind? The answer is no. Grandma Duck only attracts abusers living on her account, family included.
Donald Duck is poor. His sister left her three kids at his doorstep. This single parent has a hard time. He's always jobless or on his way to be sacked. How can he save money if he has three children to care for if he can hardly take care of himself? He is always behind with the rent, at times 4 months and although his rich uncle is the house owner there's no benefit.
Donald always has bad luck no matter how hard he tries.
Guus Geluk (Lucky Guus a goose) never worked a minute in his entire life. If he needs or wishes anything it's in front of his nose. This lucky goose never shares and lives like a dandy. He is the personification of selfishness.
If you want to keep luck at your side you should not pity others and never share.
Dagobert Duck (Scrooge McDuck) is grandma's rich brother and he worked hard for it. Is he a scrooge? If so he is for himself as well. He does take cousin Donald and the nephews along with him traveling the world. He pays everything but they have to "work" (help him out) if he's at work, investing, on a treasure hunt and so on. To the nephews it's an adventure.
Dagobert Duck is hardworking and he saved a lot. The best moment is when he can swim in his safe. He is happy if he counts his money (scientist say counting money makes happy) and he cherishes each coin and indeed they are polished (one of those jobs Donald should do if he cannot pay off his debts).
Should we save or spend?
For both counts we can only do so if we have money. Most Steemians are like Donald Duck. A few might be like Guus Geluk although Guus would be too lazy to hang around.
Those few Dagoberts are the whales on Steemit, the investors. They let the money work for them and next to that they have enough to enjoy life.
It's good to know what the costs of living are, to calculate what is needed and count with unexpected expenses as well. Savings are helpful in case of need but we shouldn't forget to live, to reward ourselves especially if we live with many hardships and on a tight budget.
#Steemit... If we do our best should each Steem earned only be invested? Should we only grow SP? At times it feels like it and it's hard to see how easily people are banned, no longer allowed to join a club if they are in need and power down. Even a given upvote is taken away if you powerdown. To me this is proof it's not about working hard or writing good content but about who is the richests and automatically receives the highest upvotes even if only 3 lwords are posted.
My own accounts are proof of this. Same writer/Steemian, different SP, an no matter how hard I work and upvote and comment I will not be rewarded for it.

My mother...it's the first time I hear users banned cause a power down...did they thoroughly explain why they power down? Until I know, it's correct to do. What if steemit is their only employment? Consequently, their only source of income. Or their offline job pays a too small salary or there is an emergency.
They can still post but upvotes drop till 0, no contests, not be read, no support no matter how good the content is.
Good question what if this is your income... Perhaps it will be answered although Steemit never said this is a job providing in a salary. To me and many others it never worked.
Perhaps it's better to stay in 50/50 or max 75 and keep your share liquid or in Steemit's piggy bank?

For many people, especially from the south of the world and especially from Africa and Asia, these online tasks are really their main or their solely source of income. Friends told me people from the poorest countries are in power down mode yesterday, today and tomorrow. Probably, the owners make distincion among countries, so if Jerry from Philippines is always in power down mode, they show concern towards him. If John from Netherlands does the same, he stops to get upvotes. Probably, the reason lies in the binomial Philippines = poor/Netherlands = rich. At least, this is my assumption. Me too, as Jerry, I'm often in power down mode because I need to purchase my expensive drugs due to chronic diseases. And I live in a third world country. Now my husband needs heart clinic tests and they are very expensive. He can't wait next year for the call from the public structure, because a serious heart illness can result in death. Despite steemit isn't my solely source of income, in any way it's the main. No other job pays me the same and my couple can't get rid of this money, especially considering that people of our age in my country, probably won't see any public pension in the third age, until our seventies or older (our Social Security shows many red flags). So my couple needs these money to run after our not so good health and possibly to avoid a third age lacking both health and salary.
Well, if I see pension at all (I am a woman) it will be at the age of 72 and I have to ask for it. It cannot be much. Perhaps one portion of french fries per year.
If you ask me it's more about which contests you join, and which people you know (sc). I noticed how the scs upvote each other.
I never powered down, never spent a dime on me, and this is also not about me but people in Indonesia and not just one. They even feel when they powerdown it affects those they introduced to Steemit.
So I will see if I can find communities where they can post and receive some support without being judged.

I can assure you rich Europeans will not join Steemit, a few might invest but for sure not write. There's nothing for them to find here.
Italian community. It doesn't condemn you if you power down. It doesn't judge you if you explain your power down reasons (I always did and I always received their support, concern and friendship).
In terms of pension, due to the next changing in the Social Security laws since 2027, my husband should see his at the age of 76, if he'll be still alive and as I'm a woman, probably between 69 and 73 years old, if I'll be still alive (this is the worst scenario, really hoping it won't happen as economists foresee).

Yes, in my country we must ask, preferably through a lawyer, an expert in Social Security lawyer. A lot of times, without a lawyer's job, no pension is guaranteed. Not such a way in my former country. In Italy, receiving a pension it's automatic (if nothing changed since my move).
It's a genuine concern of masses who work on steemit to make a living. I wish ease for everyone in this department. If one powers down it's almost over for them to excel here.
