👨‍💻 #Proposal-86: Change Log - Community Translations

in Steem Dev16 days ago

Following my last update, @moecki highlighted that I hadn't introduced translations within my changes. I very much enjoy translating the content on each screen and I'm amazed that the previous developer chose to avoid this task (for those unfamiliar with sarcasm, this sentence contains more than just a hint of it).

So not only did I use the ever so helpful ChatGPT to translate the new content that I had migrated, I also used it to translate all of the other bits around the Communities functionality.

The content was translated into the currently available options: Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish and Russian.

I won't detail every change as it's all fairly uninteresting and straightforward. If you'd like to see the changes made, this is the GitHub commit.

for those unfamiliar with sarcasm

I'm quite proud of myself: although English is not my mother tongue, I recognised the sarcasm in your introduction immediately :-))

I naively assumed that much else had already been translated. Perhaps otherwise I wouldn't have written this comment so carelessly.
But I can see that you have also mastered this challenge with flying colours. Thank you for that!

Of course, this reminds me that I haven't made any progress with editing the strings translated into German by ChatGPT.

I have finished translating the interface into Ukrainian. I have to admit, I had to do most of the work manually with the help of a translator. But I am sure that the translation will still need to be improved.

That sounds good! I've only finished the automatic part so far. The manual adjustment, or rather checking, is still pending.

Have you noticed a difference in the "Night Mode" toggle between the two menus at the upper-right?

From the "Profile" menu:

From the "Hamburger" menu:

I tried a few different browser profiles and condenser sights with browser extensions disabled, so I hope it's not something unique to me. At first, I thought my browser extension had mucked something up.

I've never noticed that - I'll take a look and see what I can find. At first glance, it looks like the label is hard coded on the Avatar.
