Steemit Growth or Personal Growth?

At times it feels as if I am the only one who reads. Am I? Are we, and also we Steemians, the ones who just read a title, pick a few words out of the text and believe we know what is asked? It's what I notice if it comes to contests and the average host never says: Sorry, man this is not what was asked!
The same I noticed at the start of #wewrite and happend with the content @steemitblog writes. It baffles me and I wonder what causes it. It can't be bad wifi, most likely it is the quick-look-because-I-know-what-is-written-it's-always-the-same or the I-know-it-all-I-am-the-best attitude.

Did the Steemit Challenges change

all of a sudden? I don't think so. It is discussed and all Steemians could have read it and commented.
I admit I do not read all the content @steemitblog writes since on average it isn't of my interest but I read this news and more.

I gave up on joining sec contests long ago and the same counts for most contests. The lack of creativity, the badly hosted contests, the copy-pasted text meant for a different community, and the lack of interest, comments/replies/engagement (not even from the host...) made me picky about what to write about. I rather write for me and keep it more relaxing than for the glory of a host of a contest or community.

If it comes to the Teaching Teams
It was already made clear that the SEC contests ended in the way we knew it - including the injustice it came with if it comes to the winners, SEC-hunters, false members, false commenters (only in the name of SEC, or all the same text or AI-generated). This was a wise decision, discussed, not the result of a secret meeting and not made to boost the teaching on Steemit only.
If we all claim to go for good content the help/tool should be given to achieve that and teaching teams are a must. Not only to teach but also to guarantee a certain level of teaching/educating.

Only the name sec was given by the Steemit Team in the past season which #wewrite didn't use is removed from now on.

SEC, the contest where engagement should have been in the spotlight failed.
Failed because of boring, repetitive topics, templates, huge lack of creativity and Steemians (communities included) who didn't care about commenting and knew even the worst entry could win.

Learning & Teaching

It is good to have a place where it is possible to learn something. It is a good way to connect and meet like-minded. Steemit can provide in that, did and does.
Indeed the level can be found high but that is also what learning is about. If we already know there's nothing left to learn.

I agree that from the few lessons I saw not every teacher kept in mind that knowing or doing isn't the same as explaining and therefore not everyone makes a good teacher but enthusiasm and engagement makes a world of difference. Another aspect is that a course should be started in lesson 1 and not in the middle.

Teaching takes a lot of extra time, and a report with remarks or "all good" is not enough, at least it was not for me. It's also important those following the lessons can ask for help, have the option to edit/improve, tell their opinion and that there's flexibility if needed (lessons, point system) to change since we are humans 'at work' and not programmed robots. Next to that different languages, translators and levels of education play a role as well.

I know some participants thought #we-write was good for an easy, peasy quickly written entry. Paying attention, and reading what was asked was ignored. They felt annoyed as it turned out they had to do certain tasks although this was meant to improve their writing style and trigger the creative mind.
_But why invest, change their quick posting style if it works right? _
Should I be sad they left? No. No way. Unmotivated people are not worth investing in and reading and are bad for the group and those who like to learn. A great group stayed, tried, and learned something new and hopefully, they have a positive domino effect on others and this platform.

Creativity is worth investing in. It's the key to solving problems and improving your life (boosting the mind included).

I had no time to follow/participate in other courses but it is a good thing the name sec been removed so it's clear what a teaching team stands for: a commitment for several weeks. It sounded long to me but those weeks passed by very fast.

P. S. I advise you to read back @steemitblog's announcements/content starting 12 weeks ago. Same for the last one where people can apply and is said fewer teaching groups will/can join. The reason why is clear to me. Is it to you too?

I am curious to hear why you felt the need to join as many courses as possible. Do you suffer from FOMO? Is it the hunt for an upvote?
What is your win if you become ill halfway?

Attempting many courses where not possible because they were lectures one has to sit, read and practice step by step, My mistake is I should have had a focus and make sure I learn it to the end, imagine the many mistakes I made in the wewrite contest because I skimmed over most of the rules. I didn't like others didn't I became ill in the middle, writing is hard and it is not like reading and answering question, or attending lectures and writing exams.

To display a picture for someone to write on needs more of critical thinking, if not your writing will be worse than a child nursery rhyme recitation.

For the teaching team, I would say learning is achieved by repititon, the weeks were shorts but it is moderate only if you want to achieve learning, I don't like chain classes.

SEC as spotlight for engagement does that mean its exit has also taken away engagement of does the steemit blog have a new way to foster engagement.

To be frank I go with the inscription I saw, the more entry you make the more chance to get voted, that is what I followed at first then my mindset changed to learning and doing my best in each contest. My fear was not missing out in any of the course but I found each of them interesting and felt I could learning all at once.

Our bodies are like machine and they need relaxation

Remember in your post you said whether you are sick or ill you must work since it is your community🤒,

so I get sick just to improve my blog, nobody is ready to here an excuse or if I give them who will understand, if I get one active post in a week, will I get be spotted in the curator report, regarding this what can steemians who were once curators like @dove11, @o1eh and @pea07 say...

Just like you I wouldn't follow a lecture where I have to sit and watch. My internet connection is too bad to load and watch videos or watch life at moments I want to. It's already annoying enough without all the extra stress. I also believe that if this is the only way a lesson is taught this means the lessons aren't open for everyone. Most of us do not have access to internet 24/7 and with older devices it's also harder to load pictures.

To display a picture for someone to write on needs more of critical thinking

This isn't true. We all think in a flash if we see a picture, painting, sculpter or a person. The first seconds we already made up our mind what we are looking at, if we like it or not and associations are made. So all you have to do is write it down. If it comes to describing a picture I find it very hard to believe it takes you hours to say: I see 3 trees, a house, sand, the sea and white clouds in a blue sky.

SEC as spotlight for engagement does that mean its exit has also taken away engagement of does the steemit blog have a new way to foster engagement.

This is a very good question. I like to add to it: Should Steemit after all these years again try to motivate people to comment and engage and even pay for it?
• I tried this with a group of Steemians years ago and till today nothing changed.
• I paid the best engagers in the contests I hosted and the result is 0.
• I noticed the same with #wewrite. The commenting is only for the entries but as I check the comments of the participants they do not invest in commenting.

If people are here for the quick earnings it's drop a post and leave.

The only difference that most like will change something and keeps this platform alive is by rewarding commenters properly and by commenters I mean those who comment like you and I write right now. Comments that take a lot of time to write, show content is read and there's engagement but the truth is these comments are hardly read or answered and not rewarded.

It is what I did as a curator in September. I don't see curators do this actively except for @stef1. This means most curators don't care and all they want is to upvote quickly whatever they see or where they believe they are noticed.

I find this a pity since what @pennsif suggested in August 2024 was one of the best ideas to find out who is committed to Steemit and willing to invest time in boosting this platform.

Do we have to post daily to be noticed? I don't think so. We could easily invest two or three days per week on commenting if we lack time and work on our post offline.

A great day to you and thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi Kitty, I read all the comments and also the post of @nsijoro my opinion might be completely different but I wanted to share it here too:-

  • Steemit is blogging platform, people write, post and engage, so nobody promised that users will definitely will get an Upvote, we all want to have decentralised place, no control no censorship no obligation
  • SEC or Teaching challenges that is something new that Steemit decided to promote to get better quality posts and engagement the same time for users to learn something. As always it is an attempt to see if people will like it or not and who knows it might go into long life but it could be short
  • why many users take part in many teaching home works? The reason because Steemit Team announced that they will Upvote the home works with SC01/02 and the first posts had even 100% of SC01, is it not a motivation to try and to get a lucky draw?
  • in my opinion, people should write comment if they feel that they want to write and have something to say. I do not like when people write comment only because they know that they receive an Upvote, because it is not real, not coming from a person but it is done for getting paid.

Hope that makes a sense...

 last month

To me this all makes sense and I find it hard to believe it doesn't to anyone else.

The promise you get paid if you join and post on Steemit still circulates. In a way it's true if you invest Steem and somehow as well if the promise is made if it came to the sec contests and comes to the SC, boosting votes and the teaching team. So what does this mean?

Are we all on the wrong trail or is Steemit centralized?

@sainkelvin17

I agree with you, describing what we have in a picture is not hard,

I paid the best engagers in the contests

I feel all engagers should be paid not just the best, because if the best engager surpasses another with about 5 and does it means the other person did nothing? Imagine 20 comment compare to 25 or 20 compared to 30/35, they all did well, I appreciate you too for pointing this things out. Thank you so much, I will give a reply to ur comment on the other of my post

 last month

Well, no one in my contests cared about engaging, not even as the prize was as high as #1.
So I should keep paying everyone year in and out because they comment?

No one rewards me for commenting, Europeans are in average ignored by curators. How come? Are we only good to be the piggy bank?
What makes all those Steemians believe we all live a rich life?

I can tell you this: the fact people know me is not because of my fat wallet. Many I know have way more than I and I only hear complaints about poverty.
Did they all post as much as I did? Commented as much and long?
How come I am still don't have a big collection of dolphins?

If it comes to the SC rewards I believe it's worth to limit the upvotes of posts and search for those who comment. Can be a different type of SC is needed.
If those who are upvoted are always the same people so be it. It is the only way to wake up people and make them understand that commenting, replying is needed to keep this platform lively.

I see a huge drop this month although a small group still comments.

🍀♥️

So how do you keep track of this comment when you were a curator when there are all hidden by the reload button

 28 days ago (edited)

As a curator we used a sheet and everything can be noted or remembered or checked.

I have a list of Steemians, go to their acvount - comments and have look howvand on what/when they comment. It's how I checked the #wewrite participants. I directly visited their accounts on the day I nominated the 5 best (check, check, dubble check) and fir wewrite a sheet was used.

That's nice

Same for the last one where people can apply and is said fewer teaching groups will/can join. The reason why is clear to me. Is it to you too?

For a simple reason, some contests did not attract enough responses, or the big curators were too busy answering so many contestants. Or maybe they did not have enough time/funds to pay so many within the stipulated period 😂

I can write a lot in answer to your post (Because I read every word including "between the lines") but I will skip that.

Note- I was not a teaching team but asking questions and expecting answers. I don't believe you can teach anyone how to do business unless, of course, I am in a position to provide him with enough funds, space, and other means. Mine were kind of suggestions but most users did nothing but post (some of them imaginary) and went to sleep.

It doesn't matter if you call it teaching or make someone think, consider, plan, and think again about what is reasonable. I must say in this case your answer surprised me but it can be that in Pakistan everyone is able to buy designer furniture.

I am not sure if the level of teaching is too low or fewer courses will make people more eager to join? I rather see a a few motivated than many with disinterest dragging the quality of a course down.

What I do believe is missing is promoting the lessons. Just like me many will never check @steemitblog or schooling options or whatever is offered.

For sure it's a hard task to upvote 5 winners (VP drops fast) and can be this should be considered and if 3 winners aren't enough depending on how many entries there are.

I wish you a great day, thanks for sharing your experiences.

I am curious to hear why you felt the need to join as many courses as possible.

If I had my way, I would have love to join as many courses as people because this is actually my first time I get to learn new things. In fact, I still intend to come back to some of the courses when I get a laptop for myself to practice the assignment.

But funny enough, I was only able to do #wewrite among the many contest because it comes 3 in 1. The only one I couldn’t do was the “poem” challenge.

A great group stayed, tried, and learned something new

I learned a lot.. in fact, the marking patterns and the comments that follows up is well detailed because you get to see were you need to improve on your write up through corrections.

If it comes to learning and how much our brain can adapt it all has a limit next to a life. Learning is not a quick entry but investing time and practicing and next to that you night need to search for more info to figure out what is meant (watch youtube videos, find examples, read others and so on which is to my opinion the only way to learn and keep remembering what you learned on long term. The long term memory works differently from the short one.).

If you like you can still do the lessons you missed or all lessons again and the same counts for all the other courses you are interested in or like to give a try. A plus is you can also look at the entries of others and the comments given to learn from. Reading comments is informative.

Thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your experiences.

Btw everything can be learned with a phone it's just how motivated you are but indeed it does take way more time and sheets for example (excel) is way harder than writing. . Now you mention it I wonder if the Teaching Teams did think of phone users as they started their lessons also because it's not possible to see everything with a phone.

Hello, my dear! I think the idea behind the Teaching Teams is great. There are many forms of courses on the worldwide web, some paid, some for free. Some high quality, some rather shallow. Few so condensed and with the possibility of interaction with the instructor.

The bitter pill: we have our own ideas of how something like this should work. They are not necessarily fulfilled. This should change over time: it could really become a bigger thing if it is not - once again - misused for quick ‘success’.

It can be great if there's something for everyone. I had a look but did not discover it yet.
What I did read were 2 remarks... 1. Something I am working on with someone and the second was:

"join a course not many join so you make more chance to receive an upvote..."

Did I read this right? If that's the case we know how this great iniative will end (which is also the reason why many decided to teach now).

🍀♥️

Same here, I searched thoroughly but at most I can answer one or two and those two with a lot of effort. And I have no intention of teaching something that might be misused, so no thank you!

You will try a crochet hook? All the best to you but I have never seen a crochet hook in my life so again it seems like it's time to take care of my wife and find a few contests in the regular communities.

 27 days ago (edited)

I can already crochet so there's no need to join plus I doubt they will crochet a coat.

If I have to watch videos or be present life it's a problem and so are the courses one has to buy a lot for to join.

I tried to figure out if there's a course for everyone but I don't see it. I guess younand I are not everyone.
Joining out of gaining I am not interested in. I better do my thing, it's more fulfilling.

Happy writing.
🍀♥️

You read it correctly and I think it is an unfortunate formulation - which will unfortunately be misunderstood and... Oh well. I'm looking forward to some first aid lessons from @abdu.navi03 and @huzaifanaveed1...

I hoped for some new hacking lessons by @dove11 but no. So I will see what others do the crocheting included (still have a winter coat / vest to make) who knows it stimulates and if not asleep I crochet through a few weeks of the winter.

😁
