International Day Of The African Child is being celebrating to commemorate the courage of some black students in Soweto who marched for their right to good education.
On June 16,1976, nearly ten thousand students from Soweto,South Africa,March the streets to protect the quality of their education.
In two weeks of the protest in Soweto hundreds of students were killed by security forces why thousands were badly injured.
Since 1991,the day of the African child has been celebrated on June 16 to commemorate those killed during the Soweto uprising in South Africa,he recognised the current of the students who much for their right to a good education.
the day of the African child as an opportunity to raise awareness for the ongoing need to improve the education of children living across Africa. There is a need that still very much exist today.out of the 57 million primary school age children out of school around the world over have are from sub-saharan Africa.
This innocent children must out of their homes to protest because they are right to a fair education has been tampered with. They paid a very terrible price for the education that South Africa now enjoys. Because of this this particular day the 16th of June of every year has been children to celebrate their efforts and courage in ensuring that sound education returns to the black community of South Africa.
Though much progress has been made since the Soweto uprising, 1 out of 10 children are still missing from the classroom.
There are many reasons why children are uneducated in the sub-saharan part of Africa,
1)the parents of these children may not be able to afford the school fees.
2)the distance to the nearest school maybe too far also.
3)early marriage making girls especially from the classroom too.
These are many more barriers to education have an enormous impact on children especially, the girls.
Girls active members of the society.we ought to understand them better and give them the support they need to achieve their potential.
-children especially girls are more likely to stay healthy, become independent and as well a force for social change.therefore we must not deprive them of the right to quality education just because they are girls. They are humans too are so entitled to every right and average human is entitled to every right an average human is entitled to.we must stop discrimination and gender inequality among ourselves we are all the same whether we be white or black or African or American agents Australians males of female we are all the same and we are all entitled to the same right including the rights of education.
We will forever live to remember the sacrifice and courage of these black students from Soweto in South Africa. They are the reason we have sound education in South Africa today.
