Forgotten
Memory fades unevenly, keeping details no one expects.
A certain expression, a hallway, the sound of distant laughter.
The important parts dissolve first, leaving fragments without order.
You try to hold them together, but they resist becoming whole.
Being forgotten is rarely sudden.
It happens through smaller absences collected over time.
A name mentioned less often, a story no longer repeated.
Eventually, even the feeling attached to it begins to soften.
Still, something remains beneath the forgetting.
Not visible enough to recover, but impossible to erase.
It waits quietly inside ordinary moments without asking to return.
And sometimes that is enough to remind you it was real.
