Back and Now

The past does not leave in the way people expect it to. It waits quietly beneath ordinary routines and familiar places. Sometimes it returns through a sound, sometimes through silence. You feel it standing beside the present without asking to be seen.

There are moments when memory feels more alive than the current hour.
A face from years ago appears clearer than the room around you.
You do not search for it, yet it arrives with complete certainty.
The mind opens doors long after they were believed to be closed.

Now moves differently when the past keeps touching it.
Each day carries traces of what once mattered deeply.
You speak, work, laugh, and still something older remains nearby.
Not painful, not comforting, only present in its own way.

And eventually you stop trying to separate then from now.
Both exist together inside the same breath and the same thoughts.
One reminds you of what shaped you, the other asks you to continue.
You live between them, learning that neither truly disappears.
