Never Again

I learned how quickly a voice can turn into distance. I watched my hope become something I had to carry alone. I stayed too long in rooms that did not hold my spirit. I called it love when it was only survival.

I will not beg for softness as if it were a favour.
I will not shrink to fit someone else’s comfort.
I will not confuse attention with devotion.
I will not trade my peace for temporary closeness.

I choose the kind of love that does not bruise the heart.
I choose words that match actions without excuses.
I choose mornings that feel calm in my chest.
I choose myself without apology.

If loneliness comes, I will meet it with dignity.
If memories return, I will let them pass through without chains.
I will walk away the first time I feel myself disappearing.
Never again will I abandon myself.
