I woke up earlier than usual today, the kind of early that makes the sky look undecided about being morning. Half asleep but feeling responsible, I rushed through my routine, grabbed my bag, and headed to school with the proud confidence of someone who is definitely on top of life. The campus was unusually quiet when I arrived. No crowds, no familiar chaos just a few birds and my footsteps echoing like I was late to a mystery novel.

I reached my classroom early, sat down, and waited. Five minutes passed. Then ten. I checked my phone. Nothing. I checked the door. Still nothing. Slowly, the realization crept in like an awkward whisper: something was off. A classmate finally walked by and casually dropped the news there was no lecture today.

For a moment, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. All that effort. All that punctuality. Wasted. Or maybe not. I sat there for a while, enjoying the rare quiet, feeling oddly proud of myself for being early even when I didn’t need to be. I left campus smiling, telling myself that at least I won the battle against laziness even if there was no lecture to prove it.
