On this day in 1982, NASA's Pioneer 10 spacecraft left Earth. Two years later, Jupiter crossed the asteroid belt and Neptune crossed the solar system at the age of 11.

The giant spacecraft Pioneer 10 was silently lost to infinite space on January 22, 2003, sending the final signal to Earth.

From 1983 to 2003, Pioneer 10 has sent countless pictures in these 30 years. Its connection with NASA was 30 years 10 months 22 days.

It is currently thought to be about 11 billion miles from Earth.
