10% to @promosteem.com

Hi all,

photo_2021-05-24_15-10-44.jpg

I am so happy to give you an update of how the third campus meet up organised by @campusconnectgh at the University For Development studies, Nyankpala Campus. Campusconnectgh has really been helping in the promotion of steem to students in Ghana. Educating students about steem in their various campuses hasn't been something easy, talking about the organisation and all it entails. We had another successful campus meet up at the UDS-Nyankpala campus. I would want to express so much gratitude to the leadership of #promo-steem under the supervision of @stephenkendal and @arie.steem for their immense support to promotional activities on steemit and this meet up in particular. I must commend the hard work and diligence of @mcsamm and @nattybongo who are our country promoters and not forgetting @collinz and @magcarnie, they are really doing great to help this cause.

UPDATE ON THE MEET UP

As usual the meet up was set at 10am to start, but we started it at 10.30am due to a few reasons. A total of 18 students showed up in the meet up who knew little or no knowledge about steem. I had a few old steemians who helped me carry out this wonderful meet up. I must commend their efforts of @abdulkahargunu, @hydra1, @roma078, @farhmade, @abu78, , @rubilu123, @silencewan, @zology69 and @bibsonhabib who joined me to help educate them on steem. Thanks to @abdul-mugis who helped in the organisation of this meet up.

This time round the education was massive, We also launched the upcoming project called Steem Tech Club which was the idea of @magcarnie to help equip students most especially ladies with basic IT skills.

This time we divided the program into sessions where each steemian had a role to play. We shared the individual concepts of steem to ourselves so each person would explain a concept to the audience.

photo_2021-05-30_16-53-38.jpg
These were the topics we decided to tackle on and each one of us took a topic to discuss with the.

  • The first speaker was @silencewan who took the first topic in the screenshot above where he spoke about

what is steem and how it works
how to sign up
The keys of steem and how to save them.

He really explained these two concepts very well to their satisfaction. As a sign of motivation he asked questions concerning his presentation and any one who answered it correctly was rewarded. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Next was @rubilu123 who spoke about the various communities on steem. How to join them and what they require you to post there. For example, newbies were advised to post all their achivement task in the newcommers community and their diary games at either Steemit Nursery or Steem-ghana. This was also explained so well for them. Newbies were allowed to ask questions and all was answered to their satisfaction. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Next was @roma078 who spoke about the various achievement task and how to write them all. He explained from task 1 to 6 and guided the step by step on how to tackle the questions asked. Newbies were also satisfied with his submission. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Next was @abdulkahargunu who lectured them on how rewards are gotten from steem. He showed them the types of votes and what each means. How to upvote and downvote. On this he spoke on getting rewards through creating of good content which are free from plagiarism. And of course we couldnt just teach them without stressing on plagiarism and why we should be original and not steal other peoples work. In order to get upvotes or rewards one must be consistent in writing and participate in contest created by moderators of communities. There were some giveaways given to students who answered questions he asked at the end of his submission. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Next was @hydra1 who spoke about how money is made on steem, how to invest on steem. In his presentation, he spoke about to to make money on steem, it wasnt very different from what @abdulkahargunu lectured though but he added more flesh to the previous submission. He taught them how to power up. Why they should power up as a form of investment. How to also sell steem for fiat. It was a submission all understood very well. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Next was @zology69 who also spoke about an important topic that newbies ought to know which was that voting isnt a 100% guarantee for everyone. Steem we all know isnt something you can use to get rich over night. It requires hard work, consistency, diligence and patience. He encourage newbies to post because they to do it and not basically because of the money. It was better to let newbies know that not every post they make will be rewarded, getting this into their heads will reduce the tension and also discouragement. Some pictures of his presentation below.

  • Lastly was me, where i spoke about the new project called the Steem Tech club which is an initiative to help empower women through Technology through the teaching of basic IT skills such as Microsoft word, Excel and some basic things they will need in order to fit in the technological advancement in world. This initiative is an initiative for girls but interested boys could also join. Our main focus is girls because, in Ghana most girls aren't privilege enough to get some of these things free but through this project these skills will be provided free of charge to interested participants. I also added that it will be a 3 - week intensive course. I must say a thanks to @magcarnie for this wonderful idea.
Not forgetting @farhmade who was the MC for the meetup. Much thanks bro.
Some wonderful pictures of the meet up.

For the past week i noticed that many newbies get signed up here and after a some days they are inactive due to either difficulty in posting or they dont know what to do next. Just like our first campus meet where we created a whatsapp group for all the newbies so we can guide them through the system until they are also matured here. We created another a new group for the newbies of this campus meet up so we can guide them as well so they dont become inactive.
So after a successful meet up we were able to sign up 11 students out of the 18 who attended. The remaining had problems such as email not responding and phone number. These people arent neglected, we still have them added to the whatsapp group. As at the time of writing these 4 students were the ones who had finished with their achievement 1 task. The remaining students are still undergoing some guidance but my fellow steemians in the whatsapp group so they will soon post their achievement 1 task as soon as everything is set. I will giving an update on their progress and development in my next post.

@abdul0011https://steemit.com/hive-172186/@abdul0011/achievement1

Some Drawbacks we had during the meet up

  • Initially we expected a total number of 25-30 students for the meet up but we had 18 and out of the 18 we had 11 sign ups with just 4 completed achievement 1 post.

  • I also realised that the participation of females were less, i think this new initiative we are bringing will help get more women on board.

  • Some of the students left before we could finish up the program.

All these draws backs will be discussed and worked on so our next meet ups wouldnt face any of these.

We invite all steemians and everyone has support for steem promotion especially on campuses to bring on board all ideas and support that is needed to make this promo a successful one. With this, l believe steemit will make a wonderful history by changing the lives of people and empowering student entrepreneurs here in Ghana with campus connect activities by the #promo-steem community.

Good work.

Make sure you follow up and support the new people you recruit - vote and comment on their first few posts at least.

You will need to be powering up to build up the Steem Power to help support the people you recruit.

I am happy we made this program happen. It was very thoughtful of @mcsamm to start this campus connect initiative. The number of participants and presenters clearly shows our commitment to promoting steem. We should definitely do this another time soon. I suggest next at our very own CKT-UTAS(Former UDS Navrongo Campus).
