About saving the earth

I might not be an expert in this field, but all I'm pretty sure of is that humans, especially this very generation, have for a very long time been the ones destroying the earth through their activities. There's now a need for us to be the ones to do anything possible to save it, and as per, one of the first methods of saving the earth is by using our voices, which is exactly what the contest organizer is trying to do. It's better termed "sensitization."

We don't need to be informed daily that this very Earth we're destroying is the one that has been giving us food and water that we're sustaining. Only if everyone understands this very well should we see the need to save the earth.

In this post, I'll be sharing with you all my little efforts that I've made for the purpose of making the earth a better place for everyone.

One of my favorite ways to save the world is through community service. Yes! You read rightly, commonest.
It feels simple for me to carry out simple activities such as draining a small gutter for easy passage of water and picking up waste deposits in public places, especially on my street, among others.

I live in an environment that experiences much rainfall during the year, especially this time around (from September to the early weeks of December). Streets and roads not only flood as a result of poor maintenance, such as the unavailability of gutters, but also houses get flooded as well.
It's very good to understand that excessive rainfall is a natural phenomenon and is likely to cause flooding, yet human activities contributed greatly.

A case study on my street

On my street and in the city at large, where I lived, there are many people who have little or no care about disposing of waste products in an appropriate manner. These carelessly disposed products during heavy rainfall are being carried by the water to different places, which makes the environment look disorganized and untidy.
Some of these wastes are being carried to areas where they block the easy flow of water to drained areas, therefore causing flooding, an unhealthy smell, and lots of damage to people.

Of course, in my part of the city, I can't be everywhere, but I do make sure no waste is left on my street that will result in flooding.

How I carried out the service

As earlier termed "commonest" and as obvious as it seems, all I do is just gather all the disposed waste, at least on my street, into my personal wheelbarrow during the day. And when it's night, I do take it to a very far place close to me where the government officially describes "waste disposal area". There, such wastes are burned to ashes mostly at night, therefore preventing pollution.

This is one of the things I do for the purpose of saving the earth. My belief is that switching off the lights when they are not in use will help save energy.
I also learned that it helps in the reduction of some harmful greenhouse gases too.
Turning off the lights is a very simple act that shouldn't be forgotten.

What is the form of attention from the government and the community around you?

As earlier stated, the government's little, or at most times, no attention to the perishing earth due to citizen activities shows that they don't care about it. The community in my area hasn't proven any different either. This can be attested to by their constant deforestation in the name of making structures.

All things considered, I'm at least very optimistic that the people will someday, anyway, get it right and start doing what's needed to save the earth.

May the earth never turn its back on us yet.
