Good day to you all friends. Hope we are all having a nice and wonderful weekend. It is time for the 4th week of our steemit engagement challenge.

This time I will be writing on the topic The Role of the Various Genders.

Introduction

This is a very sensitive topic because it relates to everyone. Due to the way several cultures view and value certain genders, it is always a hot and heated up topic.
How gender roles are viewed in India, Pakistan will certainly be different from the way it is viewed in my country Nigeria. Thuls the uniqueness of this topic. Let us now get down to business by using the sub topics to expansiate more on this topic.

Does gender play a role in our everyday life?

Gender definitely plays a role in our everyday life. In a family, where the children are made up of the two genders, right from the start of the day, gender starts playing out. The boys at home will be required to wash daddy's car and clean up the outside off the house while the girls will be directed to clean up the inside of the house and start preparing food.

There are certain task that would require physical strength to be accomplished which would be directly assigned to a male gender, while those requiring less physical exertion would be assigned to the female gender.

Even in a workplace where both genders are employed with the same salary, much load is assigned to the male employee, thereby giving much preference to the female employee. Yet, there will not be an extra income for such an extra job assigned to the male employee.

So basically there are things that only men are expected to do and there are some women are only expected to do too.

So looking at the few illustrations given above, gender plays a lot of role in our daily life.

How does the role or function in your country differ from gender to gender?

In my country, Nigeria, our culture defines the function or role of the female and male gender. The male gender is regarded as the head of the family and is expected to provide for his household. He is also expected to love and respect his wife, caring for her tenderly too.
Whatever the family does or acts out, the man is held liable for it, since it is believed that he should have trained the family very well. In so many places like community meetings, the men are only allowed to be present and major decisions are taken by them.

On the other hand, the women are expected to support the men, take care of the home and keep it in proper shape. They are also expected to be in subjection to their husbands and respect them. They are responsible for ensuring the peace of the home, since they are mostly home with the children.

Presently, some of those traditional functions of both genders are gradually changing due to economic instability and westernization. But despite that, their roles still remain as stated above.

Is it the same for other countries?

Well, speaking from an African perspective and comparing that to western countries, I would say there are so many differences.

First, the female gender are given greater priority than men. Most at times I see a white woman drive her husband out of the house which is something you do not usually see in my country.
This have led to so many single mothers, which is not good for the society.

I see female genders sharing household chores with men which is unusual in my country.

There is this fight for equality by the female gender with their male folks. This has led to so much dilution of authority within the family circle in other countries.

However, there are some similarities too.

In most lands, the female folk still have the responsibility of taking care of the house, cooking, washing, caring for the children, etc.

While the male folks are there as the provider and protector of the family.

What about Steemit?

In Steemit, the platform is open to both genders. I can also see both males and females working together in so many projects like community curation, etc. I think they are doing their best to ensure that both genders are equally taken care of without much prejudice.

Conclusion

I would like to say that both genders are important in our everyday life. They both compliment each other. The presence of social media hype about roles played by each gender can cause serious stirs or problems if not properly managed.

Additionally, the culture of a place is also key in ascertaining what is obtainable and appropriate as such cannot be changed over night.

Thus we all need to carefully weigh the roles we play despite our gender to ensure peaceful nature of the family and the society at large.

I am inviting @madilyn02, @ngoenyi and @eliany to join in this contest.

Yes bro I'm agree with your statement that gender definitely plays a role in our everyday life. In a family, where the children are made, there is a definite difference between the genders. There are certain things that boys are expected to do and certain things that girls are expected to do. Good luck for your contest stay blessed

When things are done out of love and both genders respected, issues of loss of dignity would not arise. Thanks for stopping by.

As you're truly saying in the publication, this is a very delicate topic to address according to each nation and culture but definitely this is pretty interesting and important to discuss wisely with other people that are open to it. My best regards from Latin America and have a great good luck with your entry friend.

Presently, some of those traditional functions of both genders are gradually changing due to economic instability and westernization.

The process is however slow with some entities trying to stop the process.

I like your talk concerning steemit and gender inequality, you are on point my friend.
Good luck and i invite you to visit my entry.

Equality of the sex in various countries has been considered and regulated in law, even recently Saudi Arabia which has restrictions for women going out alone, driving a car, and even not having female workers are now inversely and equal....

Hola amigo @benton3 👋

I feel like women do so much that they are not even appreciated for.
I dislike the gender issue mostly in african societies,it favours men always.

Thanks for sharing.

I would not say that it always favours the men. It is just that the gender equality movement have disrupted most African cultures and traditions. And have mostly brought about broken homes with the children suffering the most.

In my place women are respected and treated with all fairness and when a man misbehaves, he will face the wrath of the women.
