Information is power and one of the mediums for transmitting this information is the newspaper. Today I shall be talking about the importance of reading a newspaper. I hope you will find my presentation interesting.

✅Do you read the newspaper every day? What are its benefits?
Yes, I read the newspaper but not every day. This is because I have other sources of news which are the television and Android phone. With Android phones, I visit certain websites like CNN, BBC and Google News to read the news.

The benefits I derived from reading the newspaper are as follows:

1. It is informative: It serves as a primary source of information, keeping individuals informed about local, national, and international events. As such, it allows me to talk about current events with others confidently. These current events or issues could be political, Health, Education, insecurity, economic, sports, social, cultural, etc
2. . It is educative: Reading newspapers improves my language skills and vocabulary. It also serves as a valuable educational resource, keeping people informed about advancements in science, technology, culture, and other fields.

✅ What kind of news do you usually follow?
The kind of news I usually follow are:

1. Security: I am so concerned about the security news because of the insecurity of the nation. Following the security news will keep me on alert.
2. Sports news: Being a sports lover, the sports news entertains me because I do not watch sports frequently due to other engagements.
3. International news: I love following the international news because it tells me what is happening around the world.

Before now, we get the news through the newspaper, radio and television. But today, technological development has relegated these mediums. Most people today get the news on their Android phones and computers.

YES, international news is very important to every nation. No nation is an Ireland. We all need each other in one area or the other. The international news helps us to:

1. Understand our cultural differences
2. Know what is happening beyond our borders.
3. Know about social, humanitarian, and environmental issues, such as poverty, conflict, climate change, sicknesses, and human rights abuses. It can also promote positive change on a global scale.
