Oh, I didn't know that there was such a devastating disaster in 2004 with such a large number of casualties. I sympathize with you and your people for having been struck by such a tragedy. I can hardly imagine the scale of the suffering you had to endure.
Here in Ukraine, we have very favorable nature, and we haven't been troubled by such events for centuries. However, for the past 350 years, our sick neighbors have continuously troubled us, and each time millions of people have died. It is painful and unfair.
I've thought about this before. Perhaps all these trials are sent to us karmically: for some reason, certain nations systematically suffer from natural disasters, while others suffer from neighboring nations. Or maybe it's just a coincidence, and there's no divine intervention involved. In any case, I hope that we learn to better cope with adversities: both to protect ourselves from natural disasters and to better defend against aggressors as well.
