Hi steemians,

In our childhood, we used to start with the whistling of the flamingo every year, and we considered its arrival as a sign of a promising season, and its migration towards our country indicated that the agricultural season would be distinguished, and it is customs we inherited on our ancestors and parents. We count them flying, chasing after fish and insects, fleeing from our voices and our small stones that cause us to receive reprimand and perhaps punishment from adults.

And how great was our surprise when we grew up to know that these birds come in a timed migration to give us a meaning of the meanings of life and one of the secrets of this universe orchestrated with the most meticulous divine care to achieve biodiversity and ecological balance.

These eagles, hawks, storks, swans, rhinos, geraniums and other transcontinental crossings pass from our village, our city and our country in the second most important path in the world, coming from their breeding areas in Europe and Western Asia, especially from the Scandinavian countries, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Siberia and Central Asia in an exodus of up to one and a half million birds annually. For thirty-seven species of birds, they winter in North Africa each year.

However, in recent years, cities expanded, filled many ponds and swamps, and cut forests along that path in the country of residence, which led to an increase in the number of endangered birds in new dens.

Another matter represented in the unguided use of agricultural chemicals, the lack of awareness of the importance of migratory birds, the lack of data about them for the Ministry of Agriculture, the limited national capacities to preserve them, the weakness of policies and procedures aimed at preserving migratory birds within the national development plans, and the weak application of laws related to hunting, urban planning and others, which made the flamingo change His original home is looking for new sites to be a safe haven.

Experts agree that the greatest threat to birds is the destruction of their natural habitats. Also, some birds die through pesticide poisoning, collisions with electricity wires and communication towers, or oil pollution. However, the biggest threat is climatic changes, urban and agricultural development, and the accompanying pollution and habitat fragmentation, in addition to pesticides used in agriculture to control insects and grain-eating birds that affect migratory birds.

The thing that prompted me to write on this subject is an unfortunate coincidence, while I took my son this Sunday morning to play football in the stadium near my home, I was attracted by the presence of two flamingos roses stuck in the upper net of the stadium, and by checking I confirmed the death of one of them.

When I inquired about what happened, one of the parents told me that they had been stuck since yesterday, having belonged to a herd that was heading to a swamp about 10 km from the stadium, because the green color attracted to the site and regarded it as a pool of water, and when they approached, they collided with the net and could not fly again, and it was difficult for those present to get them out of this difficult situation due to the distance, despite their attempt to contact the Civil Protection, which resulted in the death of one of them.

But today we decided to save the other bird at any cost, which we started to plan it by preparing a long tool with a blade holder at its top by connecting more than one stick between them. Then we brought the bench and made it horizontal so that one of the parents volunteered to do the mission.

The mission was successful and the bird became free, but it was no longer able to fly due to deep wounds in its wings, prompting the official on the stage to carry it to one of the chambers and asked one of the vets in the area to treat and care for him.

Beautiful Post. This Flamingo remind me of stork in my yard. He flew, hit a branch with his wing and fell on my garden, we called for help and they took him to the center.

A lucky bird found help in a short time. For us, we were late in finding the solution for the first, and for the second we were able to save it with individual effort.

what a poor bird!!
Environmental conservation is very necessary to keep bird habitats from becoming extinct.
You have done an extraordinary good deed, released the bird, and cared for it.

I read this diary with great interest because I love birds, I have never seen a flamingo in my life but I would love to see it in person.

A good deed you did,I am sorry that the other flamingo died, birds go through a lot in their migrations, what you did as a child was something for children who ignored the reality of these birds,as an adult you have made up for it all.

Blessings, I hope many flamingos make it to their destination, it is a shame that their space has been violated.

I'm glad my post caught your attention, and I totally agree with you regarding the obligation to protect them.

You have shared such a nice event with us. I’m sure it is a day those boys are going to remember for a very long time. I’m sharing a video at the bottom of this comment about South Africa and the rescue operation of thousands of flamingos a few years ago.
TiP: SC02 asked that we don’t share our name, club status, nor #burnsteem25 in the title of our posts. Best is rather not to do it. I know it is going to take some time to remember not doing it :-)
Keep on sharing!

Thank you for your valuable addition and about the Sc02's tip.
