I wanted a snake, but first of all, my oldest son used to be terrified of them and promised he wouldn't come visit me at all.
And second, there's the whole thing about feeding them chicks... I'd take care of them, of course, but... I love chicks myself)

You feed the small ones, I buy them frozen, nice is also an option.
