My Diary Post; A Real Nigerian Sunday — Church, Rice, Chores & a Well-Deserved Siesta
Hello everyone 👋
Sundays always have a different kind of feeling for me. They’re slower, calmer, and somehow everything feels a little lighter. Today was one of those simple, wholesome Sundays that remind you that you don’t always need big plans to enjoy your day.
This morning started a bit dangerously though… 😅
We were meant to leave the house by 8:10am so we could attend the 8:30am second service, but guess who woke up by 7:30am? Yes… me.
For a moment I thought, “Ah, today might turn into an online service situation.” But thankfully I didn’t have any other morning responsibilities apart from preparing for church, so I moved quickly and somehow still managed to meet up on time.
Not my proudest punctuality record, but we made it. Mission successful.
Took this after the church service
The service itself was refreshing. There’s just something about sitting in church on a Sunday morning — the music, the message, the calm atmosphere — it resets your mind for the week ahead.
After service we took a few pictures around the church area before heading back home.
Now here’s where things got even better.
When we got home, the smell of food welcomed us before we even fully stepped inside. My sister didn’t go to church today, but that turned out to be a blessing because she stayed back and prepared stew for us.
Which meant no long waiting before food — and that is a blessing every Nigerian can appreciate.
Soon enough, it was time for Sunday rice.
remembered to take a photo, half way in to the rice😀
And of course, in true “home teamwork” fashion, chores were waiting for us too.
My brother handled the sweeping, while I took responsibility for mopping the floor. Teamwork makes the dream work… or at least makes the house clean faster.
Once that was done, food had been conquered, and the house was neat, the body naturally demanded the next important activity…
Rest.
I had slept really late the previous night — almost 4am — so the tiredness started creeping in little by little. We watched a movie for a while, but before long I could feel my eyes negotiating with sleep.
You know that moment where you say, “I’ll just close my eyes for a minute…”
Yes. That kind of sleep.
A proper Sunday siesta followed, and honestly it was exactly what my body needed.
Now the day is slowly winding down, and I’m just here reflecting on how peaceful the day has been. No stress, no rushing around, just church, food, small chores, rest, and family.
Sometimes the best days are simply the quiet ones.
How was your Sunday?
Hope it treated you well too.

🎉 Congratulations!
