The Dairy Game (14:02:2024): " A Day Well Spent"

Hello Everyone

Greetings from @shuly to all of you. I hope you're all doing well and having a great time.

After breakfast, I heard a knock on the door and went to answer it. It was my aunt, Hea. She swept in wearing a colorful ensemble that was perfect for the day's celebrations. Her outfit was a beautiful sari with a bright pink blouse and an orange highlight, the colors of Pahela Phalgun. They mirrored the flowers and the spring that blooms on this day. When I saw her, I felt a rush of happiness and good fortune. She added so much brightness to our day.
After Hea and her husband left, I threw myself into my project with a big smile on my face. I did short work of the fridge and then the kitchen and the bathroom. Finally, the house was sparkling. Our efforts were rewarded when my sister surprised us by stopping by for a while. We served tea, and then she also helped me clean. The two of us tackled two rooms at twice the speed.

After lunch, I set off for the shops to buy flowers for our celebration and a little treat for my niece. I brought frozen treats to share with everyone as we marked Pahela Phalgun. The cool colors and crisp spring flavors were just what we needed in the heat of the day. I soon relaxed and joined in the good spirits of Pahela Phalgun.

Post-lunch and the neighborhood seemed to buzz with excitement. People spilled out of their houses taking in the lovely weather and holiday mode. A little empty space beside our house had a group of small children playing a game of cricket. Their laughter and whoops of delight was infectious and before long, I was cheering the small cricketers on, delighting in their game. A reminder of the joys of childhood and community.

In the afternoon I decided to visit the local vegetable market. It’s spring and as I walked in, it felt nature was outdoing herself. Dark green leafy greens side by side with vibrantly colored fruit, piled high in stall after stall greeted me. My visits are often about going to the vegetable I like, which on this warm day were radishes, and I ended up buying quite a generous helping. I was struck by the variety of vegetables that were available and couldn’t resist letting my eyes wander at this feast. A reminder of the earth’s bounty and the wonderful gift of cooking with her fresh produce.

Conclusion: A Day Well Spent
Reaching home in the evening, my arms laden with bags of fresh vegetables, I reflected on the day. It might not have gone as what I’d planned. But it was a day well spent. In the smiles of the children playing cricket, lies the spirit of Pahela Phalgun. In the camaraderie of the market vendors, lies the spirit of the day. In bags of radish, tomato and guava, smiles Pahela Phalgun. This day, of welcoming spring, made me see the beauty of everyday, the value of community and the little joys of simple living. As I prepared to store my bounty of fresh vegetables, I was grateful for what the day had given me. Each moment, a celebration of all that Pahela Phalgun stands for.
