Health Is Wealth: What I Am Learning About Taking Care Of Myself

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFE14 hours ago

Good day everyone, it's yours truly, @solomonjohnson and welcome to another interesting post from me.

There is a popular saying that “health is wealth.” I have heard this statement many times, but the more I grow and experience life, the more I understand its importance. Having plans, dreams, and ambitions means little if I do not have the strength and good health to pursue them.

As a student, I often have different responsibilities to deal with. Sometimes, I get so occupied with school activities and other personal goals that I forget to pay attention to myself. However, I am gradually learning that taking care of my health should not be something I do only when I feel sick.

Drinking Enough Water

One of the simple things I am learning to take more seriously is drinking enough water.

Water is something we often overlook because it is readily available, but it plays an important role in our daily lives. Whenever I feel thirsty, especially after moving around or carrying out some activities, I make sure I drink water.

Staying hydrated is one of the simple ways I try to take care of my body

I have come to understand that taking care of my health does not always require expensive things. Sometimes, it begins with simple habits such as drinking enough water, eating properly, and paying attention to how my body feels.

Taking Medications Responsibly

As a Pharmacy student, I understand that medications are important in the management of different health conditions. However, I have also learned that medicines should not be taken carelessly.

Medications should be handled responsibly and used according to proper instructions

Whenever I need to take medication, I believe it is important to understand what I am taking and follow the instructions given by a qualified healthcare professional. I also know that self-medication can be risky, so I should not assume that every drug is suitable for me simply because it helped someone else.

My studies have made me more conscious of the importance of using medicines properly. Good health is not only about taking drugs; it is also about making informed decisions concerning my body.

Rest Is Also Important

Another thing I am learning is the importance of rest.

Sometimes, I become so focused on school, personal responsibilities, and other activities that I forget that my body also needs time to recover. There are moments when the best thing I can do is simply put my phone aside, lie down, and allow myself to rest.

Taking care of myself also means paying attention to my well-being and giving my body the care it needs

Rest does not mean that I am lazy or that I have given up on my goals. Instead, it gives me the opportunity to regain my energy and prepare myself for the things I still want to accomplish.

Listening To My Body

I am beginning to understand that everybody has limits. There are times when I may feel strong and energetic, and there are other times when I may feel tired or unwell.

Sometimes, taking a break is exactly what the body needs

Instead of ignoring every sign of tiredness, I am learning to pay more attention to myself. I want to become more intentional about eating well, getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and seeking appropriate medical attention whenever necessary.

I still have a lot to learn about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but I believe that every positive step matters.

My Health, My Responsibility

I have dreams I want to achieve and many things I hope to accomplish in life. However, I know that I need to be in good health to enjoy the results of my hard work.

Money, academic achievements, and other forms of success are valuable, but good health makes it easier to appreciate them. That is why I want to make my well-being a priority rather than something I remember only when I am sick.

Taking care of myself may not always be easy, but it is a responsibility I must learn to embrace.

Health is truly wealth, and I am gradually learning to appreciate the little things that contribute to my well-being. From drinking enough water to taking medications responsibly and getting adequate rest, I believe that small, consistent habits can make a meaningful difference in my life.
