Hi to all members of the steem for betterlife community. First of all, I want to say that I am new to this community. Today I will tell you about the special features of the Mustang horse.

When referring to the Mustang horse, it is usually identified with an American breed equine however, this imposing horse has its origins and at the same time European background. The first curious fact that I share with you about this animal is that its name comes from a very old Spanish word whose meaning refers to the phrase 'without owner'.

To know more about the peculiarities of the Mustang horse we can highlight that, this breed is descended from the Spanish horse and they have managed to breed it without any inconvenience in American territory because, for 5 centuries ago they have been taking specimens to this area and in this way they guarantee that it is a difficult breed to extinguish.

Recently I saw a documentary in Animal Planet where they explained that, the Mustang horse currently represents the last species of wild equines and although in Europe the breeding of this type of horse is still developed, the United States and Canada are the countries that most own this type of specimen and at the same time, they are responsible for exporting them around the world.

It should be noted that, on several occasions, non-governmental entities were created that were dedicated to the illegal appropriation of this horse to proceed to market with them and because of this, the United States issued a Law that protects them in order to avoid any type of crime that they want to exercise with them.

At the beginning of the time of conquests, the American Indians had no knowledge of what a horse was, a novelty that began to change when the first conquerors arrived in the American territory and although in the first instance they were reluctant to use these horses as a means of transport, they finally adapted to them and even managed to highlight them in each war battle.

Knowing about the lifestyle of the Mustang horse I share that, they usually live in herds where we can easily count between 20 or 25 horses of this breed. In the same way, they have a life span that does not exceed 30 years and is considered the second breed that lives the most when compared to other horses. It should be noted that, in a group of horses, foals, mares and males who are not yet 2 years old are concentrated.

In a herd of Mustang horses there is only one horse that is responsible for directing the entire herd and in equine life, it is known as the watchman since, it is ensured that the males do not approach the mares or foals when it is not necessary. In the same way, it is the one who protects the group from predators or an enemy that is hanging around them and in case of seeing something out of the ordinary, it emits sounds so that the rest of the horses are alert.

Another particularity that we can not fail to mention is that, Mustang horses are small in size however, being a wild equine stands out for being strong and very vigorous. Its measurement is 1 meter with 35 centimeters as the smallest size and the largest is 1 meter with 55 centimeters; it should be noted that, these measurements are obtained if the Mustang horse is not crossed with another species.

the Mustang horse has a very short neck and the head is small. As far as the eyes are concerned, they are expressive and the curves that define the face, have rectilinear silhouettes. Similarly, the color of the coat in these equines varies since, some are white, overo sabino, chestnut, bay or black.
