Save The World: Small Actions, Big Changes!
I was watching the news the other day and started to feel defeated. It looks like the environmental goals that the most influential countries on earth should reach in order to prevent a global catastrophe are not close to being met.
It is a scary thought and a hopeless sensation. What can I do as just a regular person that can actually make an impact? But what if every one of us did a small action to be more sustainable in our daily life, how big of a change that would generate!
At home, we are trying to do our part, and even though is a small adjustment, it means we are trying our best.
The first change we made was to separate our trash into recyclable and non-recyclable. We got a trash bin with 2 compartments to make this task easier. We mainly recycle glass and plastic. This action would be pointless without the Government's help. It doesn’t matter if we recycle at home if the trash ends up in the same place.
Thankfully, the government has a recycling plant and pick-up truck that collects this kind of trash twice per week.
The second change we made was to start buying and using cleaning products made with biodegradable ingredients that are less harmful to the environment. The brand I find here in Dubai is Ecover and they have all kinds of products.
The third change we made was to stop buying single bottles of water. Now we buy the 4-gallon bottles and fill the glass bottles we put inside our fridge. These kinds of bottles are way more environmentally friendly as it reduces the consumption of plastic.
I hope these small actions can inspire you to make a big change!
Love,
Vanessa.
