Good evening!

Do you have a life? Perfect. Does it include people you talk to occasionally? Friends, colleagues, neighbours... About God and the world and everything that seems important and significant to you? Wonderful: then you are probably not completely boring!

Seriously, that's what it's all about here - opening up, revealing yourself, sharing yourself with a broad, preferably ever broader audience. If you do it well, that's called blogging. The topics revolve around the person of the respective blogger: his everyday life, his experiences, passions, fears, adventures, thoughts, wishes, ...

I will also tell you what should NOT be called blogging. Working through given topics, researching and preparing the insights gained from them - that's not blogging. These are homeworks and writing exercises; they belong in a school and are graded there as essays.

Unfortunately - and I really regret this from the bottom of my heart - this is exactly the system that has taken hold here. It doesn't matter whether it comes across as a Diary Game or an Engagement Challenge: a task is set, worked on by willing participants and assessed by referees. I even see regular point systems more and more often.

I'm sorry to tell you this so bluntly, but I don't like it at all. It's something like a worksheet to fill in compared to real journalistic or literary writing. I'm not even saying that there aren't interesting suggestions among the topics. I've submitted my own contributions to it on a number of occasions. However, I did so in the way I wanted to express myself, on the basis of my own attitude. The actual call for papers was ... well, not very important.

Does this "independence" make me a blogger? No. At best, it makes me independent ;-)) You become a blogger if you are also able to write well (entertainingly, thrillingly, comically, forcefully, convincingly, versatilely, ...).

And that brings us back to your life. You said you have one. Can you write about it? The way you talk to your people, discuss. The way you read it in newspapers and books. In such a way that you get pleasure from it yourself? THEN you are a blogger! If you can't, please find another vocation. But wait, maybe that's not quite enough: maybe you are blessed with a great artistic talent? Then show us! At best, words would be an accessory and the main focus would be on your work: drawings, photos, sculptures... Would that be a path for you? Once again, if you can only shake your head at both writing and creating, then you don't fit on a blogging platform.

The necessary inspiration, the content, must come from within yourself: You hear a funny incident reported by your child. You read a moving report in the news, you are worried about a current development, you have a secret wish, you try out a new sport, you have an unusual job, ... Respond to posts from other Steemians that speak to you. Explain your views on controversial issues. Allow your life to become a part of this platform! In turn, the Steem becomes a part of your life.

What more advice can I give you? When you have finished a post, read it out loud to yourself. Would you want someone else to read it? Would it interest you? Does it sound exciting to you? Then, and only then, click on the "Post" button ;-))

Hast Du ein Leben? Perfekt. Gehören dazu Menschen, mit denen Du gelegentlich redest? Freunde, Kollegen, Nachbarn... Über Gott und die Welt und alles, was irgendwie wichtig und bedeutsam für Dich erscheint? Wunderbar: dann bist Du nämlich vermutlich nicht komplett langweilig!

Im Ernst: genau darum geht es hier - sich einem breiten, möglichst immer breiteren Publikum zu öffnen, zu offenbaren, sich mitzuteilen. Das nennt sich, wenn man es gut macht, Bloggen. Die Themen bewegen sich dabei um die Person des jeweiligen Bloggers herum: seinen Alltag, seine Erfahrungen, Leidenschaften, Ängste, Erlebnisse, Gedanken, Wünsche, ...

Ich sage Dir auch noch, was NICHT Bloggen genannt werden sollte. Das Abarbeiten von vorgegebenen Themen, die Recherche und Aufbereitung der daraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse - das ist kein Bloggen. Das sind Hausaufgaben und Schreibübungen; die gehören in die Schule und werden dort als Aufsätze benotet.

Leider - und das bedaure ich wirklich von Herzen - hat sich genau dieses System hier breit gemacht. Egal, ob es als Diary Game oder als Engagement Challenge daher kommt: es wird eine Aufgabe gestellt, von willigen Teilnehmern bearbeitet und von Schiedsrichtern bewertet. Sogar regelrechte Punktesysteme sehe ich immer häufiger.

Es tut mir leid, Dir das so unverblümt zu sagen, aber ich mag das überhaupt gar nicht. Es ist so etwas wie ein Arbeitsblatt zum Ausfüllen im Vergleich zu wirklichem journalistischem oder literarischem Schreiben. Ich behaupte nicht einmal, daß es da keine interessanten Vorschläge gibt unter den Themen. Ich habe bei etlichen Gelegenheiten selbst meine Beiträge dazu eingereicht. Allerdings so, wie ich mich dazu äußern wollte, aufgrund meiner eigenen Haltung. Die eigentliche Ausschreibung war mir dabei ... naja, wenig wichtig.

Macht mich diese "Unabhängigkeit" nun zu einem Blogger? Nein. Sie macht mich bestenfalls unabhängig ;-)) Blogger wird man, wenn man noch dazu in der Lage ist, gut (unterhaltsam, mitreißend, komisch, eindringlich, überzeugend, vielseitig, ...) zu schreiben.

Und damit kommen wir zurück zu Deinem Leben. Du sagtest doch, Du hast eins. Kannst Du darüber schreiben? So, wie Du mit Deinen Leuten redest, diskutierst. So, wie Du es in Zeitungen und Büchern liest. So, daß Du selbst Vergnügen dabei empfindest? DANN bist Du ein Blogger! Wenn Du es nicht kannst, suche Dir doch bitte eine andere Berufung. Doch halt, vielleicht greift das zu kurz: eventuell bist Du mit einer großen künstlerischen Begabung gesegnet? Dann zeige uns diese! Dabei wären Worte bestenfalls Beiwerk und das Hauptaugenmerk wäre auf Deine Arbeiten gerichtet: Zeichnungen, Fotos, Skulpturen... Wäre das ein Weg für Dich? Noch einmal: wenn Du zu beidem nur mit dem Kopf schütteln kannst, zum Schreiben und zum Kreieren, dann paßt Du nicht auf eine Blogger-Plattform.

Die nötige Inspiration, die Inhalte, müssen aus Dir selbst heraus kommen: Du hörst eine witzige Begebenheit, die Dein Kind berichtet. Du liest eine bewegende Meldung in den Nachrichten, Du machst Dir Sorgen um eine aktuelle Entwicklung, Du hast einen heimlichen Wunsch, Du probierst einen neuen Sport aus, Du hast einen ungewöhnlichen Job, ... Reagiere auf Posts anderer Steemianer, die Dich ansprechen. Erkläre Deine Sicht der Dinge zu kontroversen Punkten. Laß es zu, daß Dein Leben ein Teil dieser Plattform wird! Im Gegenzug wird der Steem ein Teil Deines Lebens.

Was soll ich Dir noch raten? Wenn Du einen Post fertig gestellt hast: lies ihn Dir selbst noch einmal laut vor. Würdest Du diesen Text von jemand anderem lesen wollen? Würde er Dich interessieren? Hört er sich spannend an für Dich? Dann, und nur dann, klicke auf die Schaltfläche "Post" ;-))
