Many people think that tropical orchids are difficult to grow and re-bloom. I'll be honest: I don't think they're wrong. I've 'killed' a few.

Growing orchids is like riding a bicycle. Most of us have the potential, even if it's not always realized. It's definitely hard the first few times you try it, but not so hard that you feel obligated to put it on your resume. Orchid growing is a skill you must learn deliberately. It is trial and error. Orchids tend to have very specific growing requirements and are inflexible. Some of us are lucky and have home environments that suit some types of orchids. I don't, so I have to recreate the right conditions in our apartment. Namely: an indoor greenhouse (to maintain ~70% humidity), use LED lamps for extra light, and maintain a regular fertilizer and watering regimen.
