Ooo.. now, this is the first photo contest I have come across, that requires editing. And it looks pretty technical. Do you have a post on how to edit for noobs like me? E.g. what free software we can use, what should we look for to edit, etc?

I don't have a post or tutorial about photo editing.
And don't worry โ the editing doesn't need to be too technical or complicated. Even simple adjustments such as improving brightness, contrast, colors, cropping, or correcting the horizon can make a big difference.
If you're looking for free and open-source software, you can try GIMP, which is great for general photo editing, or darktable and RawTherapee, which are especially useful for photography and RAW files.
The main idea of the contest is simply to encourage participants to put a little personal touch into their photos rather than uploading them straight from the camera. ๐
So don't be afraid to experiment โ you definitely don't need to be an editing expert to participate!

Wonder if @wakeupkitty, @gems.and.cookies, @suryati1, @hafsasaadat90, @ladyaryastark would like to give this a try. Think we can use phone photo apps to edit too? Since some of our friends do not have a PC or laptop or prefers to Steemit on phone.

The goal of this contest is to be creative and give the photograph the attention it deserves as the main element of the post. It doesn't matter whether the editing is done on a computer or a phone โ what matters is the creativity and the final result.

I will check it out ..old phone, lack of memory so I like to keep it operating. I already had no access to my notes... apparantly over 600 notes was too much to handle ๐
ohh.. 600 notes are lost from your phone? O dear.. Hope you find them back. One thing I know about mine is that it is always lack of space.
They are there but I have no access, the phone lacks memory to open them.
Space is no issue I use a memory card which can always be replaced.

And you have posted! Yay! Hehe... The only thing I ever edit is the size, cropping the sides that I do not want to share. But will be interesting and fun to try editing beyond that and see what turns out of it. Yes, good luck to all!
Check your phone's gallery; you'll most likely find editing options like color filters or stickers. Or you can try Telegram, which also has basic editing tools. Good luck!
You explained your point very well because I really don't have a laptop or PC, I also use Steemit through my mobile.
Yes try, try with mobile to edit a photo and see what it becomes :)

I remember Gimp from a long time ago and although someone tried to explain it to distract me from the pain I was suffering from I didn't understand it.
I completely agree. GIMP has quite a long learning curve and requires some knowledge of image editing to fully understand its tools. However, it is an extremely complete and powerful piece of software, supported by a very good user guide.....In that sense, it is almost like the Steemit learning curve โ sometimes that can be rather painful too! ๐
To me it is too much. I am no longer a photograph fanatic like in the old days, back then the old fashioned the way. I leave that part to others, those being more motivated.
If it comes to Steemit I am also a slow learner and not very eager to try out something new.
