Chess Board
The chess board in this picture is twenty years are older, while the chess pieces are thirty years are older. I believe that makes the chess pieces a classic according to car logic (a thirty year old car is consider a classic).
The chess board and chess pieces have been on a different journey. This chess board has been my favorite for play over many years. I have found that the folds up style chess board that can actually hold chess pieces are very convenient. The most convenient feature of all is that it fold with chess pieces inside and can be placed on a shelf in full view at all times.
I can’t be certain but many avid chess player probably receive chess sets for birthdays and Christmas presents. Well we also give chess set for birthdays and Christmas presents trying to encourage someone to play. So many chess players have two, three or more chess sets at all times. I doubt that they are all complete though. Also as a result of this most chess players have several boards to choose from to play on.
As can be seen by the picture above this chess board has seen lot of play. It is a very stable and solid chess board, not a cheap one and not an expensive one either. It has been the board of choice for me over many years. Also it has certainly earned it permanent place on a main shelf, visible at all times whether needed or not. This old chess board is a fixture in my home. Of course I primarily play chess online now but this chess board is always there, just in case some unfortunate soul challenge me. I think it safe to say that I have a better then 95% win rate on this board(yes this board is special).
All Purpose Game Boards (chess boards)
I don’t know how old this multiple purpose board above is maybe older than my favorite chess board. But it is the one board that has the quality of never getting lost. It always turns up whether I am looking for it or not. I believe this quality stem from its size, it can fit on a shelf or fit neatly into most boxes. As mention above these chess pieces have been on a different journey than my favorite chess board, it’s been on a lonely journey. These chess pieces belong to a very nice glass chess set. The glass chess board is very decorative and heavy duty alone with some very heavy duty chess pieces that feel real nice to the touch. A few of the bottom covers are now missing from the chess pieces that give them their intended color.Chess Pieces
At the time of purchase this set was not intended for regular play but rather something interesting to display. Of course I played a few games with this chess set but it doesn’t lend itself toward visual play.
Well over a short period of time this chess set was stored and not displayed. The glass chess board that was the most impressive feature of the chess set is believed to have been lost early on. So the chess pieces have remained in this small bag below for many, many years, out of site and forgotten until today.
