KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 293 new cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded by the Ministry of Health, today, bringing the cumulative number to 12,381 cases.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said it involved 292 cases of local transmission, 269 locals and 23 non-citizens, respectively, while another case was import cases.

He said a total of 28 patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit with four of them in need of respiratory assistance, apart from no deaths recorded, today.

Yesterday, the daily positive number of COVID-19 recorded 317 cases, the highest number since the virus spread in the country.
