Day 867: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: castle

Billy jumped eagerly to see if he could peer through the slits in the hewn rock. To no avail - still too short. His 5-year-old stature could barely reach the edge to peer out into the distance. From his vantage point, his father towered over him.
“Daddy! Daddy! Let me see! Let me see! Whats going on?”
His father hoisted Billy up to allow his feet to catch the sill to allow his body to rest against his shoulder.
“What do you see, son?”
“The whole world!” Billy exclaimed, excited over the view, his eyes darting across the land scape, following the road to the forest beyond. This was the first time his father had allowed him on the castle wall as a celebration for his birthday. Billy felt sure that this must be what being an adult was all about. And it felt like he was flying high above everything.
“Daddy, what would it be like to fly off this wall?”
His dad replied with a chuckle, “You better not try. Its a long way down from here. Here, let’s keep walking.”
He grabbed Billy’s hand and they kept walking, following the walkway atop the castle walls.
