Retired

There is a lot to see in an artist's studio. It is messy here and there is not much room for visitors. The elderly artist is concentrated on his work and is not wearing protective clothing, no dust mask and the floor of the studio seems spotless.

The artist seems to love his work. A sculpture is finished but there seems to be no customer. Maybe he doesn't care and is not interested in selling but in keeping busy?

Finally retired, Jörg sighs. His colleagues ask him at the farewell party what his plans are. Fishing, right? Jörg chuckles at the thought. The last thing he plans to do is sit on a stool on the bank of the Rhine and wait for a fish to bite.

The next morning, around ten o'clock, he has breakfast for the first time in the 25 years that he has been rushing to work. Then he grabs his coat and goes to the warehouse that he rented years ago. It is old, deserted and normally he only comes here on his days off, at least when he is not tired. From now on this is his new job. He wanted to be a sculptor, not a boring office clerk for an insurance company.
The radio plays softly in the background as he whistles as he goes to work. It promises to be a wonderful day. The light shines through the high window onto his sculpture in progress.
Maybe I can put a bed here he thinks, if I have any inspiration I can at least get started right away.
