I am participating in this contest by choosing the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) district office. BRTA operates its activities in every district of Bangladesh. They are responsible for vehicle registration, driving licenses, fitness certificates, and other transport-related services for vehicles running on the roads. These offices are usually open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In each office, an Assistant Director is in charge, and there are many officers and staff who work to complete different services for the public.

I visited the Dinajpur BRTA office to register my motorcycle. In the morning, I woke up, got ready, and went to the office. After reaching there, I showed my necessary documents, and they collected the required information for registration. I had to park my motorcycle in a specific area. After some time, an officer came and checked the vehicle, matched the details, and signed a paper. That paper is attached to the vehicle, or after a few days, the number plate is provided. Once the number is assigned, the vehicle can be driven without any problem from traffic police.

This is a government office, and the service quality is good, but there is a lot of corruption here. It is very difficult to get work done without paying extra money. Many officials and staff are directly or indirectly involved in these activities, which is unfortunately common in our country. People come here with a lot of hope, but often face harassment. When I went with my motorcycle, I had to wait a long time for the officer to come and check it, even though he was in the office. He came at his own time, which I personally did not like.

However, the office has some good facilities. There is a garage where you can park your vehicle while completing your work. There is also a mosque where people can pray during the day. Bathroom facilities are available as well. Nearby, there are many tea stalls and food shops. If you feel hungry, you can eat rice, paratha, or have light snacks like bread, biscuits, and cake from those shops.

Finally, I want to say that although this office provides useful facilities like parking, prayer space, washrooms, and food options, the overall process of work is quite complicated. I feel that the process is made difficult on purpose so that people are forced to pay extra money to get their work done quickly. Also, there are many brokers around the office who offer to complete your work easily in exchange for money.

If you plan to visit the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office for vehicle registration or a driving license, it is often suggested to go through a known intermediary (broker). Otherwise, you may experience long delays and spend a lot of time navigating the process. Many people feel that moving between counters or speaking directly with officials does not always lead to quick results, as intermediaries tend to have established connections.So, even though it might cost a bit more, working through a trusted person may help you complete your tasks more efficiently, instead of losing significant time and effort going back and forth within the office.
