#BURNSTEEM25 || Learn and Practice Smart Patrol Methods for Sumatran Forest Protection

in Steem-Environment2 years ago

Hello nature friends and steemian all around the world. This time I will review my learning story the other day about the Smart Patrol System. What is a smart patrol and its function is to save the forest.

For 2 days I was introduced to and practiced the smart patrol method in the Gunung Leuser National Park area. Sei Serdang, Langkat-North Sumatra what3words

Smart Patrol itself is a tool or system that is used to manage a database that is integrated directly with the activities of officers in the field, this system is connected to a smartphone so as to enable effective data management of the results of activities. In carrying out the activities, in addition to mapping the potential of natural resources around Jita District, it is also to increase the capacity of officers in the field in the context of protecting and securing forests from the threat of hunting, illegal settlements, illegal plantations, new land clearing and mining.

SMART Patrol is a mechanism that maximizes patrol activities and uses the power of information to increase the effectiveness of area management, including preventive efforts to eliminate illegal activities and repressive efforts in the context of law enforcement, as well as protecting wild animals and their habitats in conservation areas supported by spatial software that called MIST (Management Information System). This Smart Patrol has four main data collection components, namely: spatial location data, date, patrol time and flora and fauna observation data

SMART Patrol is also a tool used to support resort-based conservation area management, to optimize this activity, an information system that runs systematically is needed that is integrated with the mechanism in the UPT. SMART also helps conservation area managers to develop better management plans, evaluate and implement conservation actions and increase accountability.

Initially, the SMART method, which was first used in Thailand and Cambodia, was useful in bringing together the power of information and accountability to direct the resources of the most threatened areas.

SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) is not owned by an individual or an organization. Rather, it is available free of charge to the conservation community. The three main approaches of this tool are: software, capacity building, and territorial protection standards.

This data is expected to prevent or limit the destruction of forests and forest products. SMART can also be applied to support most aspects of conservation area management, such as biodiversity research. The SMART application functions to collect, store, analyze, evaluate, and report the results of management activities in the field.

What is far more important than its ease of use is that SMART can assist management in making strategies and plans based on the results of the evaluations that have been carried out. For patrol activities to protect the area and biodiversity. By using this method, the equipment carried is more compact, the time used to enter and process data is also shorter. The data entered is also more accurate with the time recording and the coordinates of the data collection location can be accounted for.

That's all my review of the smart patrol tool. Hopefully useful for all readers. Greetings sustainable.

Thanks my friend, Smart patrol is very useful for forest protection, because through this technique we will know new forest openings, and also the distribution of animals.

The age of growing, let’s go!🌳🌳🌳
