The curangel approach to upcoming communities

in Curangel5 years ago (edited)

With the new community features, the way to follow news about the project and the daily compilation posts will change slightly.

If you did not learn about what communities (or hives) are, here's a quick introduction:
Posts get a tag related to a community (hive-123456). Each hive has one owner account, who can put a name and description, give other users specific permissions for this community tag like posting, pinning posts, muting users and so on. This way it will be possible to create moderated communities which can serve different purposes.

The @curangel community will not be a place for you to post. Our curators will keep looking all over the platform, and posts in our community will not be voted on by the bot. The hive is only for posts related to the project, and we will moderate.

As communities are still in beta you have to use https://beta.steemit.com/trending/hive-164833 to check it out. There are features missing and bugs may occur, so if you don't want to bother with that there's no harm in waiting until it comes live on your preferred platform. Tags are still working.

Thank you for your interest in the Curangel project! If you want to help us supporting a wide range of valuable community members and at the same time receive a share of the generated curation rewards, consider sending us a delegation. By doing so, you will also receive the possibility to help us move rewards from overrated posts back to the pool.

How beautiful this post is a beautiful view

So I guess I won’t be posting about my thoughts on when steem will “moon” from the curangel hive? And I shouldn’t be posting about my hair loss problems either from the hive :)

Just checking!

@pharesim I am commenting from the beta steemit curangel hive directly to test the functionality.

Just a few thoughts/questions:

The @curangel community will not be a place for you to post

What exactly are we saying here? Are we recommending people not to post from the hive? Or is it optional. I understand that we will curate regardless of the origin of the post, that is obvious.

The hive is only for posts related to the project, and we will moderate.

Are we saying only the daily curation posts and news/update related to the project will be posted from the hive?

Also what are your thoughts on front-end and back-end. Do you expect any improvements on the way, structural and cosmetic?

Are we recommending people not to post from the hive?

Not into the community, no. At least if it's not directly related to the project, like applications for curators or so (which would probably be comments to a post from one of us). For anything else there will be other communities where their content fits in. This is stuff about curangel only.

Are we saying only the daily curation posts and news/update related to the project will be posted from the hive?

Yes. Even not 100% sure about the daily posts, maybe they'd just clutter up the stream here and it's better suited the keep these solely in the @curangel blog. People could then decide to subscribe to the community for talk about the project or follow curangel for the compilations. Or both.

Do you expect any improvements

I hope for a lot of improvements of course :D What I remember from the features list I saw a while back there's a lot more coming.

In that case, what will be the solution if/when every hive has their native token and that is how steem inflation is distributed and transposed. Steem original token does not have any inflation. Steem is used to run the engine, doing structural stuff. I do not even know if that is a possibility but I have heard the discussion.

What would we need a token for? If there's nothing to earn by posting any more, there's even less reason for anyone else to post in our community.

LOL! Right.... will see. I guess we will cross the bridge when we get to it :)

I seriously wonder if curangel is even still needed if that happens. The distribution of community tokens will be very different from the current distribution of STEEM. I'd imagine curation projects to be community specific then, and probably run by the community administrators.
